  1. Well, you pay the Queen 61p a year in tax, if that's what you're asking.  61p a year from every British subject - it adds up...

  2. Hmmmm, I don't think a royal life is showered with 'freebies', I think the answerer is thinking about American celebrities. The Queen makes most of her money from opening her palaces to the public which brings in tourists to Britain and a huge amount of money. Prince Charles also has a hugely successful business of organic products. The British taxpayer pays less than £1 a year to the Queen and she brings in a lot more than we ever give her. So, a self sufficient and non-political head of state is quite a good idea really.

  3. It is usually from the things they inherit from their ancestors (such as priceless painting that havent changed hands in centuries, which would probabally be valued in millions) plus the land, investments and what not. As for The Windsor family (England's Royal Family) the public pays them in their taxes, because first off they are royal, and secondly because they are a MAJOR tourist attraction.

  4. Do you think if a genuine king or queen walked into your local McDonalds and ordered a Big Mac, he/she would be asked to pay for it?  The life of a member of a royal family or even a famous celebrity is full with freebies - never having to pay - the person selling the item or providing the service cannot bring themself to ask for payment simply because the human being in front of them is accorded some special status in society.  Many ordinary moms struggle to take their kids for a weekly treat at McDonalds but people who already have millions of dollars stashed away are showered with free items

  5. Taxes. There the biggest group of spongers on the globe.

  6. You didn't realized. You just happened to ask.

And BTW, royalty has money from centuries in the bank, and also makes money from the news, politics, the state, taxes, laws, the people... from virtually everything the can.

  7. Depends on the country. In the UK the Queen is given money by the Government for offical business, this is on return for the Royal family having handed over to the Government the Crown Estates, the Government make far more from the Crown Estates than they give to the Queen. If the Queen is carrying out duties on behalf of another realm of which she is monarch then that realm's Government pays for it. However, these are few and far between as Governor-Generals can act for the monarch is nearly all duties.

  8. Most royals have a lot of property, especially land. And they have investments in property, businesses and stocks, some of it going back centuries.

They farm, and also have businesses associated with land, animals and so on. For instance, Queen Elizabeth II has one of the UK's largest horse stud and breeding operations, which makes large amounts of money every year.

And of course, they inherit money. It's not that hard to make millions if you start out with billions!

    Cheers :-)
