  1. The best way I know is to mow all the same way.  ie mow first row north to south, then space your row south to north two rows along. When you have returned to the north end, mow up the second (missed row) thereby the nap of the turf remains the same.  Carry on repeating this process, you will be re-mowing the rows in the opposite direction, but it is not hard work, just turning the nap,  until you end up at the south end with one row spare.  Just walk back up the row and then down again to finish at the south.  You start going north south, and should finish north to south.  This saves changing mowers, blades etc. and expense. BUT  I love to see the lines, I guess it is a personal thing?

  2. don't mow a strip with the wheels in the same line as the last row=overlap

  3. WHAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! everyone I know TRY to get stripes on their lawn. Thats why I've got a large petrol roller mower. Leaves beautiful lines on my dark green sward. Best in the county.i

  4. First of all, get a mower with more or less than two blades.  Most mowers with two blades will leave a thin strip of unmowed grass.  Many 3-blade mowers, however, do not have this problem.  Secondly, overlap each lane a little.  If mowing to the right of a previously mowed area, keep the left wheels in the previously mowed area.

  5. The only thing that hasn't been covered is the mower deck not being level.  If one side of the blade/s is cutting higher than the other, when you make your next round you will definitely have a line.  If that is your problem you need to level your machine.  If it is a riding mower there are adjustments to level the deck and if it is a push  mower you can raise or lower the wheels to level the entire machine.

  6. I assume you mean lines from the wheels? If so, mow later in the day when the grass is completely dry, then afterwards, rake the lines out by going the opposite direction from the way you mowed it

  7. I've found my lawnmower does this when the blades need sharpening.
