Does anybody know how to make wooden western stirrups from bodock, cherry, or pecan.?

I am trying to find someone that knows how to make wooden stirrups.

  1. It's not a complicated process .... cut a strip of wood about 1/2 inch thick, soak it thoroughly in a steamer. That's just something to get it hot and thoroughly bendable soaked by feeding steam into the place with the wood.  Large shops use big barrels, you could start with

    Then bend it into shape over a mold, and clamp it there until it dries.  

    Then you clean up the shape, drill holes in the top for the bar that holds the leathers ...you are done.

    Commercial wood stirrups are made with laminated wood, and they use really heavy pressure.
