I always want to play golf or swim at a country club, but I don't know any members from the country clubs. Does country club open once a while to non-members to let them try? Do they have events that allow non-members join with them and we can make some members friends? Is there any way that we can meet their members?

  1. Its called being a guest of a member.  by invitation only

  2. Depends on how snooty the club is and how well you can pull off being a "prospective" member.  Not sure what part of the country you are in, but most clubs these days are hurting for revenue and looking for new members to join.  Call the club and ask for the membership manager, inquire about what it takes to join and if there is a waiting list.  This will tell you if they are looking to add.  If so, ask about getting an opportunity to play the course and use the facilities.

Only caution is they may send someone from the staff to play with you or meet you at the pool, to put the press on you to join.  But usually worth it to see inside the walls.  Good luck.

  3. Depending on how exclusive the club is, sometimes you can contact the recruitment director and talk to him/her.  As far as the pool goes, they'll probably take you for a tour, but probably won't let you swim.  You can typically get a "trial run" on the golf course as well, but the recruitment director has to be convinced that you are interested in joining the club and have the means to do so.  The clubs are private and therefore try to prevent non-members from using their facilities as much as possible, some clubs even limit how many guests can be invited per month or year.

  4. Try being a caddy at a local club; I believe that most courses will offer the facilities to the caddies as a perk.  Also, a great opportunity to meet the members. Usually, private courses are closed to the public and visitors are normally invited guests of the paid members. Most of the better private courses have hefty buy-ins and a lengthy waiting list (along with other requirements ) for membership.

  5. If you don't know any members, then your chances are very slim to get on a private county club golf course. If you did know a member, then perhaps that member could invite you to play in the club's annual member/guest golf tournament.  This is one their big social events of the year.  And, done for a purpose...possible new members. And, if you do have a particular club you are thinking about, you might go in to the golf shop, or ask if they have a membership director.  Sometimes they will let you play the course if you truly seem interested in perhaps joining. There might be a charge, and quite often this fee will be credited back off the initiation fee when you join.  Again, most clubs do not open the course, or the pool, to the public.  It's all in who you know.....at the club.  Might just call one...or  two private clubs, and see what their rules are about this situation.

  6. When you get to a club, you will have to show or validate your member card before doing anything in there. Some clubs will promote their event to public, usually not.

  7. goto beagolfer.info to find good clubs

  8. You need to call the club you have an eye on. They may be having a trial out day for non-member or may be you can just pay for one time use.

But, as other suggested, by name they are private club so without membership or member guest status, it should b e difficult.

  9. They are private by definition.  They do not conduct events that are open to the public other than things like weddings, charity events, etc. that are invitation only.

  10. Some country clubs will open their golf course to non-members during summers or slow times of the year. Most also have non-member events to try to recruit new members (if they need more members). Sometimes the best way is contact the President of the club and ask him/her how to join. Good luck!
