Does anybody know if flight mode actually works..?

I have a W850i and Im going on holiday and I was wondering does flight mode actually work..?

Is it safe?

Most airline companies will tell you to switch your phone off, even off flight mode. Now though, some are letting you keep your phone on and make and receive calls.

Flight mode on most phones is actually just your phone without the transmissions, so you can play games and listen to music and stuff on it but can't send texts or make calls, so it's pretty pointless!

As to whether it's safe, I'm sure if it wasn't you wouldn't be allowed to use your phone on some airlines, but always follow the directions give onboard before you take off!
