i had state farm 15k coverage for 75 a year, but they raised it to 100 a year because they don't write a policy lower than 30k now, but I probably own less than 10k worth of stuff.

  1. Most companies won't write a policy for under $100 a year, because it costs about $75 to actually issue and process the paperwork the first year.  You might be able to get a $5K policy through your state FAIR plan for about $75, but that would exclude liability, loss of use, and theft, so it's kinda pointless, IMO.

$100 a year is still really a great rate - most companies charge closer to $150, as their "minimum premium" regardless of coverage.

  3. Depending on the state in which you live, check with Nationwide, American national, Monumental Life, Erie, or just check with any independent property/casualty agent in your area. He or she can probably help you.
