Does anybody know of a couple of bicycle marathons in Texas?

A marathon is a running event.   Bikes are not allowed.

Check out http://www.bikereg.com/ There are a lot of events for Texas, but you can search for events in your specific area. You can even enter on-line if you want to.

Texas has tons of riding.   One of the most famous is the Hotter N' h**l century ride in Wichita Falls toward the end of August.  Check it out on the web.  If you want to do that ride, you'd better sign up now and reserve lodging if there's anything left....that ride draws thousands of riders from all over the country.
