Does anybody know of a good converter?

Question

ive downloaded a lot of videos and movies, but their all usually in avi, or flv format, so im looking for a good, free converter for macs. it also has to be capable of converting at least 500 megabytes,free, and has to convert to mp4 format. THANX!!!
