Does anybody know of a good knitting website?

I would love to find a website with really good knitting patterns on it, preferably for free, for patterns which would appeal to teenage knitters. Everything is very old fashioned, but i would really like to knit something quirkier

please can anybody give me some websites? :)

  1. Try this site..........

    http://www.knittingpatterncentral.com/

    or

    http://www.knittingonthenet.com/

    or

    http://www.knitting-and.com/knitting/all...

  2. Have you checked out these:

    http://lionbrand.com/

    http://knitty.com/

    You should consider joining:

    http://ravelry.com/

It is a place where knitters and crocheters share their creations.  Many will offer their patterns for free or show what inspired their projects.  I often check out items and realize that I have that pattern book but it looks different done in a different color or type of yarn.

  3. Also try magknits.com and fiberfemmes.com for some interesting patterns.  And remember to check the archives at knitty.com for patterns from past issues.

  4. hey. this is the directory page of a knitting site with tons of ideas on it.

  6. there are thousands.  each yarn maker has a website where you can download free patterns.  try searching bernat, patons, lion brand, red heart etc. you'll find loads of young styles

  7. this is a great basic site.  http://www.grannys-garret.com/knit/how_t...

  8. You can try Lion Brand Yarn, garnstudio.com, knittingplaza.com. knitnet.com.

  9. There are buckets of websites for knitting.

MY personal favorite websites to visit are:

    Knitty.com: http://knitty.com/

Knitting Pattern Central (Directory - has an elephant's worth of patterns - pratically everything you can think of): http://www.knittingpatterncentral.com/di...

There is this great community/networking site called Ravelry.com, where you can network with other knitters (or network via projects you're interested in).  You can also find numerous projects to be inspired by (and done by a wide range of ages too): http://www.ravelry.com

Allot, if not all, of the companies that make yarn will have some sort of pattern database.

Lion Brand (only one that you have to sign up/in for to get to the patterns): http://www.lionbrand.com/content-knittin...

    Caron Yarn: http://www.naturallycaron.com/projects/i...

    Coats & Clark: http://www.coatsandclark.com/Crafts/Knit...

    Bernat yarn: http://www.patonsyarns.com/pattern.php?P...

  10. http://www.bevscountrycottage.com

All free patterns, most very easy, fast to make, and best of all, the website is geared for people to make items for humanitarian causes worldwide.

You likely have a have a hospital near you who could use handmade preemie items or newborn items.
