  1. depending on the ages of your children, the crown Paradise club is awesome for families. there is a baby club with a matted sorta fenced in area, the kids pool has a pi rite ship setting with dragons spraying water and water slides, there is an arcade area for kids a bit older. the food is great but only one buffet style rest rant, even though it is large. 24 hr room service, snack bar on the beach right on the beach nightly entertainment. if you want to do any of the boating excursions the marina is less than a block walk and you see cruise ships come in almost daily, wee saw whales from the beach and a flea market right next to the resort. i cant say enough about this resort for a family. i have also been to the royal decamoron, and more relaxing than family, again depends on you kids.

  2. Try Mayan Palace, but depends on you budget.

  3. I noticed that someone had mentioned the Mayan Resorts, but they are not all inclusive.  Most the other resorts there are.

Fortunately, while all of the Mayan Resorts are the most incredible resorts out there, there is no mandatory all inclusive package.  This past year I have noticed that some of The Mayans are offering partial inclusive packages, consisting of X number of meals.  Thank goodness, it is your decision.  The one in Puerto Nuevo has a free train that drives around the resort and lets you off on the trip.

  4. Palace Resorts

    Vallarta Palace in particular...

Unlimited tours included as well; and those can add up!

  5. We are going to the Royal Decameron in Bucharis, very close to PV.. we got a great rate too! Supposed to be a family resort too!

Mexico is still a vacation value! You get so much for your money! Two yrs ago we (the 2 of us) went to Cancun, flew out of Charlotte, NC stayed at Temptations (formally the Blue Bay Getaway), we paid 1550.00 for AI, air, transfers, taxes and fees for 4 days.

This summer we're flying to Nuevo Vallarta, staying at the Royal Decameron (an AI) air, transfers, taxes and fees come to 1649.00 for 7 days! We got our packages from Sam's Club, I think they have the best rates.

  6. Hey! Grand Mayan Resort in Neuvo Vallarta.  They have a huge swimming pool.  They have a wave and lazy river, and a slide pool.  It is great for a family.  Also very luxury.  They have a kids group too.  This resort is #1 in Nuevo Vallarta.  Have fun.  Good Luck!

  7. This might not be a direct answer to your question, but may help in your decision.

What are you looking for in PV?

***If it's the standard white sand, pool, stuff for the kids to do, good food, good resort, then I recommend Nuevo Vallarta and going with one of the bigger resorts.

My personal opinion with this -

    1)  If meals are included, you limit yourself extremely by only eating at the resort.

    2)  If you want to see what Mexico and PV is all about, then this would not be a choice for you.  Nuevo Vallarta is all resorts - there is no culture to it - it's just like every other resort in every other resort town.  You could choose a less expensive vacation spot closer to home and have essentially the same vacation.

    3)  Nuevo Vallarta is a good bit away from the town of PV.  Almost all tours now offer a start in Nuevo, but you're spending some time getting to and from where the culture is.

*** If you're looking for a mix of resort but closer to town, pick a higher class resort in the Hotel Zone.  It's close to town, where the culture is, and also close to the US reality, like Wal-mart.

*** If you're looking to enjoy the culture of Mexico - meaning the town, the people, the food (INCREDIBLE FOOD), the Malecon (Boardwalk, which is a great place to walk and people watch every night, not just the weekend), then stay in Puerto Vallarta.

I love the romantic zone.  Positives are the culture and character, the flea market, the malecon (above), the restaurants, shops - it is just incredible.

Beaches are not as pretty as Nuevo, but there is more to them - you meet the locals, see the different hotels, and within twenty minutes walk from the romantic zone, there are more secluded beaches that are not "plush" like Nuevo, but more private and attractive than in town.

If you want the "extra" tours, like the Yelapa tour, fishing tours, snorkeling, ATV's, Dune buggies, etc.  They will not be included in the resort all inclusive.  You'll have to pay for them anywhere.

But there is much to do in town that is not "extra" cost wise.  There's the flea market down town, the city is full of culture and character, there is the beach as well, you can walk the beaches - go down past the romantic zone and there are secluded beaches that are more attractive less than 20 minutes walk.

It's an awesome town.  I'll be there again in ten days, and am looking forward to it.

Best of luck in your search.  You can reach me if you'd like by email at cprn00 at yahoo.

    Enjoy.
