Does anybody know of plans to build an electric maglev train? I'm looking to hook it up to AC.

I want to create a small maglev propulsion system, able to be turned on and off, and travel in two directions. All of the information I can find on the net is either based on permanent magnets facing each other, so that some second-grader can give it a push and call it an experiment, or are plans from 1975 with little to no usable documentation. Any help would be greatly appreciated, and remember, I am going to be building something to run for a long time, and that will be plugged into a wall, so a sturdy circuit would be appreciated. I have access to alternators and many miles of mag-wire, so I am open to any plans out there.

So you want a linear motor designed with no other data then it's going to be hooked up to AC?

Sorry I seem to answer a number of question and it seems they did not know how to use the internet let alone use wiki.

What about the load?  How much mass?

What velocity? What acceleration?

How much space?
