Does anybody know quick facts about Bethany Hamilton?

She is a very inspirational and spiritual young woman.  I read her book "Soul Surfer" and it is truly amazing the positive outlook she has and the impressive things she has done to overcome losing her arm in the attack.  I recommend the book to anyone, surfer or not.

Bethany Hamilton has come a long way since her run-in with a 14-foot tiger shark on Halloween morning 2003 while surfing Kauai's North Shore. That attack left her with a severed arm, but did not stop her from pursuing her dream of becoming a pro surfer. Bethany got back on her board, continued surfing and now inspires people of all ages around the world. This gutsy 15-year-old wrote a best-selling book ("Soul Surfer," MTV Books), was featured on TV and in magazines, won 2004 Teen Choice and ESPY awards and in June 2005 captured her first national surfing title. Q: We all have fantasies about visiting Hawaii. What's it like to actually live there? A: It's pretty laid back. It's always beautiful, even when it's raining and it's always warm. Oh and you can go to the beach every day. That's the best part. Q: What was it like to write a book about your life before you were even out of high school? A: It was a lot of hard work. But I was just happy to use it as a way to inspire people and share my faith in Jesus Christ. Q: After all that's happened, it takes a lot of guts to get right back into the ocean. Do you have any fears? A: I'm always scared of what might be swimming in the ocean. But, when you're having so much fun out in the water, you sometimes forget about all your fears and worries. Q: When do you wear your prosthetic arm? A: I've found it much easier to do things without a prosthetic. It slows me down. I'm way too active to take it with me and I've learned to do everything with one arm. Plus I'm not self-conscious about having one arm and I don't have a problem showing off "stumpy."
