  1. This is a real favourite with regulars visiting London -- the Luna and Simone Hotel, in Victoria. It's been going since the 1970s, and once people discover it, they always come back to it.

Double rooms here cost from £75 a night (full listings of prices here: http://www.lunasimonehotel.com/rates_01.... ), which is very cheap for central London. And the hotel is just lovely -- have a look on TripAdvisor -- it's the 11th most popular of more than a thousand London hotels (the top 10 are a lot more expensive.)    =) http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Revie...

Good breakfasts, lovely owners: what more could you ask?

More expensive, but very luxurious and special are the b&bs offered by Uptown Reservations.

These are rooms offered in very upmarket private homes in grand (and very central!) areas like Chelsea and Knightsbridge. Double rooms start from £95.

All guest rooms have their own private bathrooms; many even get private sitting-rooms. And the hospitality is always great -- lots of good advice on places to visit and stuff.

Love from a Londoner born and bred.
