I'm wanting to paint my boyfriends parents house for them, and earlier on today I went down to my local hardware store, Bunnings, and purchased some wall paper re-mover but it takes 10 whole minutes to work just to remove a bit of the stuff.

Does anyone know of any quicker way I can do this please, its really frustrating me and is the most annoying part of the job.

Is there any quicker way of doing it please???

  1. steamer and sraper will be perfect

once wallpaper is nicely wet and soaked it shold come off quite easily

  2. There is a tool you can buy which perforates the paper - puts heaps of pin pricks into it.  This allows the moisture to penetrate the glue backing when you steam or sponge with water afterwards.  I've never tried it, but i've heard that you need to go through this process if the paper is very thick, or if it is one of those vinyl types of papers.  Putting steam or water on these papers will do nothing as it cannot penetrate.

  3. vinager and hot h2o spray the walls with a empty windex or simmaler bottle

  4. All you need do is get a bucket of warm water pour about half a bottle of white vinegar in stir and wipe across your wallpaper. Just wet it enough to get the vinegar to penetrate the wall paper. Then let it sit then go in and peel off that wall paper like your peeling a banana thats how easy it will come off. If some is still trying to stay do the process over again it does work and you wont be taking off half the wall along with your paper or inhaling chemicals either. Good luck :)

  5. If you have access to a steamer, that is the best way, if not, try using a sponge and hot water, be careful not to get the wall saturated

  6. I just took off a bunch of wallpaper.  I used a bucket of water with 2 cups of liquid downy clothes softener and a big sponge.  I also did a spray bottle with half water half downy to spray it on.  I used warm water just to give it an extra quick warmth to soak it in.  I got it all off with ease then just wiped the walls down with a water rinsed rag.

  7. soak the wall with a wet sponge then it is easy to peel off

  8. i did what most of the above post have said.what i found  best was to use a wallpaper scoring tool then to lightly spray the wall paper with warm water and let sit ffor a couple minutes while your are waiting spray next section after scoring then go back and with a wet sponge with warm water and a scrapper start to peal it off.the gel you can get at the store does not seem to work at all

  9. Have you tried using a Steamer and Scraper? they work well, i had to help my mum use those when taking off the wallpaper in every room in my old house
