I know that restriction in food is just a part of keeping Lenten Fast.

But am interested to educate my self with the customs of Country I live in. And here I have some mess- since some people say that it is ok to eat tarama, octopus and calamari or even fish, other even restricting olive oil. I am interested about Lenten Fast menu and food that should be EXCLUDED exactly for Cyprus. Thank you in advance!

  1. Leonard Is doing Just fine BUT

Fish are cold blooded critters and and (I believe) proper to eat..

The food restrictions were somewhat set by Jewish law..

it can not be proven that GOD gives a spit.

IF you consider the whole of civilized man fasting,,,,,! becomes nonsense.. it is a discipline to keep the individual in control..

Consider the Catholic church adopting seven new SINS..

BUT as you please.. I know nothing of Cyprus..

  2. all meat, poultry, eggs, butter, milk, any and all finn fish, so if it has blood you cant eat it, but seafood without blood eg= lobster, crabs, shrimps ,prawns, langustines, crayfish, musssels clams, oysters, scallops, octopus, calamari, cutlefish, are all okay to eat,    tarama is fine as well, all fruit and vegetables, nuts and beans are fine to eat as well ,

  3. Leonard is absolutely right about food.

About olive oil: in old times, olive oil was kept and transferred in containers made of cows stomach and that is the reason it is 'forbidden'
