Does anybody know what exactly is this old telephone component?

I recently found this piece of equipment at a garage sell. The owner told me it is part of an old Pacific Northwest Bell's installation. I have no idea if it has a value whatsoever.

  1. looks like a part for the bell ringer.maybe a capacitor probably not worth much.

It is an electromechanical transfer relay.  It is not too old.  Would guess it is only 60 to 80 years old judging by the metals used, the cotton and paper insullation, and the spring steel used in the switches. Would guess it was made by Western Electric or Automatic Electric. Probably of little value. That's my take.
