Does anybody know what happened to the 2nd Howard Hughes 2nd XF-11.?

Question

The first XF-11 with counter-rotating props crashed, but hughes built a second XF-11 that he successfully flew. Did that plane survive or has it been distroyed Thanks

Very good question, it seems to have disappeared.  When you consider it was not flown until 1948 and by then Hughes was into Helicopters, Aerospace and Avionics.  He was also having problems with Congress regarding funding of the Spruce Goose.  

It probably sat by the wayside and deteriorated to the point it was scrapped.  The Spruce Goose and H-1 Racer were preserved but the XF-11 was not that unique.

It took a while to find the info but the one-and-only Hughes D-2 was destroyed when lightning struck the D-2 hangar.
