Its small and yellow. The skin is smooth and very easy to peel off. The seed is brown and shiny and the flesh resembles that of a peach. My mother's friend gave a huge bag to us and they were grown in her backyard. In Chinese its called "bebo" or something along the lines of that.

  2. The fruit is loquat.  Check out wikipedia for more info.

  3. It sounds like loguat.  They're very good and difficult to find in US

  4. loquat?  I have two of those trees in my back yard.  It likes warm weather.  I got it as a cutting from my uncle and a Chinese/Vietnamese storekeeper gave us another tree he started from the one in his yard.  A Chinese neighbor across the easement from us has a tree.  My grandpa had one in his yard in San Mateo. The fruit is highly prized and relatively expensive on the market.

  5. Loquat is the right answer. In modern Chinese, it is more commonly known as pipa (Chinese: 枇杷; pinyin: pípá), from the resemblance of its shape to that of the Chinese musical instrument pipa (琵琶).
