I am just home from Tampa, Florida where I got "attacked" repeatedly at the pool by this insect. It was large and made a very loud buzzing noise and would fly right up into my face. We saw them crawl up the wall from the soil sometimes too. Ive been there several times and havent seen anything like it. I think it could be a deer fly which can give you an extremely nasty bite if u let it. This is the only pic i have, its laying on its back after my boyfriend managed to thump it away from me with a magazine!

  1. idk

  2. it looks like a harlequin ladybird, they are the same as common ladybirds but they can give a nasty bite, they are spreading rapidly and are actually killing off the well loved common ladybirds

  3. Poor little potato/june/japanese jew bug! Those things are harmless. They're actually kinda cute. Except they destroy crops an awful lot....

  4. i am not sure what this is i think it could be some kind of beetle it doesn't look harmful but it could be a nuisance advice would be to by some insect repellent try to keep these insect away

  5. That looks like an upside down Japanese Beetle.  They have a thing for roses...other than that, and the fact that they make a lot of noise when they fly I know little about them.

June Bug?  Yeah, they are bigger than a Japanese Beetle, but the shape and the pretty green is very similar.

Either way, though annoying or freaky, depending how how much (or little) you like bugs - they are harmless...

  6. This is a nasal beetle. The reason it was flying in your face is it wanted to get up your nose. After they do this they lay 6 to 8 eggs and once the grubs hatch out they burrow round to the back of the eyes and feed on the retina. Blurred vision and dizziness are symptoms. The only way to cure it is by going in through the r****m with a pitchfork.

  7. It's NOT a June Beetle! Those things are waay bigger than that beetle.

It is an upside down Japanese Beetle; let it go outside because they can carry germs. But they also eat lots of plants. They do loads of damage to our plants and trees! Just as bad as caterpillars! ew i don't like them, but ya it is a Japanese Beetle I think.

  8. It's a June Bug. A harmless scarab beetle, quite pretty if you aren't phobic about insects.
