  1. be specific in your question that u dont want people who think they know the answer based off of a video game answering your question. expect to pay a few hundred more bucks too. try gunbroker.com or Saiga.com like someone else suggested

  2. Id type "russian Ak 47" for sale into my search engine and see where I go.

the Romanian versions are as good or better... besides what you buy now days has a percentage of US parts to be legal anyway.

Good or better is relative for a sheet metal gun that could be fabricated in a mud hut ... by peasants ... with hacksaws and files in a pinch.

Junk yea..but Kalashnikov is a genius

  3. Why are there always two dickheads when it comes to ak questions: The troll and the "ak47 is illigal because it's a full auto" shithead?

    Vangion is right.

  4. Russian AK's are being marketed under the Saiga brand name, and can be had from most online dealers for around $500.00. They are not set up as conventional AK's, meaning that they will have different front handguards, gas tubes and will not have bayonet lugs, cleaning rod stowage or standard handguard retainers. They're good rifles, and can be readily converted back to their military configuration by a good gunsmith familiar with these rifles, and some US made "compliance parts".

If you want the traditional AK look, I suggest you find an INTRAC or PARS imported Egyptian Maadi, a Chinese MAK-90, a Romanian SAR-1, or one of the new Century builds.

I don't know why peple cling to the old mythology about AK's. They require care and maintenance just like any other mechanical device, and they are accurate enough for the purpose they were designed for.

I would put my ArsenalUSA SLR-106FR up against an out-of-the-box M4 carbine any day, and in a sandstorm, at that.

If you have a little money to spend, get an ArsenalUSA AK variant; they are about the best thing going these days, and there's a big aftermarket for them. They usually run around $700-$1,000, dependng in the market.

Another great option is a pre-ban Chinese ak, such as a Norinco Type 56 or a Polytech AKS-762. These are easily the nicest AK's out there, and will cost you a pretty penny. They can be had for around $800-$1,300.

The Egyptian Maadi is the closest you'll get to a traditional Russian AKM, as they were made on original Russian machinery that the old Soviet Union sold to Egypt. They can be had for about $400-$500, and are fairly common.

I consider Romanian rifles to be the bottom of the barrel in terms of quality and finish. They have been rife with quality control problems, especially the magazine wells, which are manufactured as single-stacks and then hogged out with a grinder in order to fit regular AK magazines, which produces a badly done, ill-fitting mag well which doesn't work with al AK magazines. The front sight towers are frequently installed imprpperly, and are canted very badly, which makes it nearly impossible to get it zero'ed. The rivets and pins very badly done, and in general Romanian AK's look like they were assembled by meth-addicted chimpanzees.

Shop around carefully, and check out the Equipment Exchange on ar15.com and the Marketplace on theAKforum.net. There you will find a veritable cornucopia of Kalashnikovy goodness!

  5. Check here.*..>> gunbroker.com, auctionarms.com, gunsamerica.com....

  6. Krebs and Robinson are 2 top places to get Russian made quality AKs.

Arsenal is the place to get a quality Bulgarian style.  The current Romanian WASR imports are a poor quality AK although they shoot reliably.

Many US produced variants made with DCI (Dan Coonan Industries) receivers are excellent.

  7. Russia.

I'm serious. Ask to see Sergei outside the Vodka Museum. OK, that was a joke...

But in all seriousness, the import prices for new Kalashnikovs would probably be ridiculous. They just wouldn't be affordable.

And I'm not sure if Russia still produces any. I believe Izhevsk only turns out AK74 and newer.

If you can find one, good luck and enjoy. But I'd probably just get the Romanian one. Its really just as good.

  8. Do a search for Saiga on google.

    They are made in Russia.

  9. Russian ak's are probley the most expensive ak out there. If you are looking for a brand new one they dont make them anymore. Now they make the AK-100 series. it starts from ak-101 to ak-108. all in various barrel length and caliber. but it will not be fully automatic. it will only be semi automatic. and they run about 800-1000 dollars.

a diffrent option is to go with a ak clone. and you can get the ak-47 (but semi automaic). alot of countries make them theres the romanian WASR-10 SAR-1. the chinese mak 90, the egyptian maddi, yugo m70, bulgarian and many more.

the romanian ones are the cheapest at around $400 but have the worst finnish. even though some are not bad. and they are just as reliable as an any other one. yugo's are more expensive but its worth it for the finnsh. in my opinion egyptian and chinese ak's are highly over priced and not worth it. a yugo is just as good in every way.

if i was you id, get the yugo but if you cant find one or you cant afford it a romanian one will be perfect.

i own two romanian, the WASR-10 and the SAR-1. both have never jammed or malfunctioned on me and i fired many of thousands of rounds out of them. even after that they still had the same accuracy as the day i brought it home. they get a 6 inch group at 100 yards standing up. and a plus with the romanian is it already comes with a side scope rail. so if in the future you wanna put a scope on it all you need is the mount and the scope!!

  10. E-Bay.

  11. You can't, it is illegal to own a new machine gun (a real AK47 is full auto)  Nor can you purchase a gun from ebay as the previous poster answered, ebay banned gun sales 5-7 years ago.

Besides, AK-47 are c**p guns, the only reason they are popular is that they are easy and cheap to make and will put up with alot of abuse.

  12. ==================I HOPE THIS HELPS==================

well you sound very informed about this gun "which i love"  we would drop the m-16's in the sand box and snatch up raghead aks when in cqc; so no the aks are good even the cheap ones, i own a few "good and cheap" price ranging from $250 - $1200 customized 308 bore that i handload for and it is a consistant 5 round .75" moa. that being said i own a ffl so it is cheaper for me, but the best thing i can recommend is buying a ====shotgun news magazine==== and looking at the dealers in there, and there are alot of em, lol..

expect to pay $450-$700 for the really nice stuff,

but remember you can always ouder a reciever for $80 and have a ffl dealer order it for you "cost bout $20" and then the rest of it you can order without an ffl, and build a sweet good priced rifle that would be better then anything you can buy!!!.....

    best of luck to you

  13. This weeks Southern Ohio Guns flyer is listing new Russian made AKs at $549
