You can try a store that sells them some will take them back,

you can also take them to a hazardous waste disposal day if your area has them (try talking to your local town hall or trash diposal athority/company)

I'm not sure if earth 911 covers your area but you can try going to www.earth911.org to see if they list anything in your area
