I was evacuated to Devon or Cornwall, I was only young, to a Tidcombe Hall, run by Nuns. Anybody know of such a place. It was a big old English Mansion, in the country. I can still smell the leaves of the nut trees surrounding the place, after it had rained. I now live in Western Canada.

  1. On page 9 at this link, permission was applied for in 2005 to make the West wing into a detached two storey building...so it seems it hasn't been demolished...

    BUT

If you look at page 4 at this link you will find that planning permission was applied for in 2006 for the erection of four dwellings...

Maybe the original property is still there and someone wants to build in the grounds!

    Edit

A little more exploring finds that it is still there...

    2nd edit

Something is definitely still there...go to Google maps and type in EX16 4EJ and then zoom in on it!

  2. Apparently if you walk along Section 2 of the Grand Western Canal near Tiverton, you can see Tidcombe Hall.

See www.waterscape.com/things-to-do/walking, or Google Tidcombe Hall.
