Does anybody no any websites on how to save a unheard of cave?

the cave is on private property in pevely mo. alot of poeple have memories in it. slaves used to hide in it when they were transported but theres no prewf so there trying to nock it down. it is so beautiful, it has about four tunnels and three large sqaure entrences. i'v never been in the tunnels because there all biocked off. so what should i do?

  1. You might be able to get some information from the National Speleological Society. If anybody has information about it, it will probably be a NSS member.


  2. I think you have three resources (on a federal level at least) to help save your cave.

    If you can find some record of the cave's use as a hideout for slaves or as part of the Underground Railway, the National Trust for Historic Preservation would be very interested in helping you save this landmark.  They are the first link below and have a very well done website.

    From an environmental angle I would approach the Department of Natural Resources (on the state level first), the National Park Service and even The Nature Conservancy.  All three of these will have a keen interest in the value these caves play in the regional ecosystem and what merit there is from a conservation perspective.
