  1. 1.  The mean is the numerical average, so just add all the numbers and divide by 14 (the number of numbers you added).

    2.  The median is simply the middle number, so arrange the numbers in order from small to large..  The median is the one in the middle, but since you have an even number items, I think you would just use an average of the middle two numbers.  In this case, the two middle numbers are 48, so it is a moot point.

    3.  The mode is the number that appears most frequently.  At a quick look, it appears that your data is tri-modal, since 45, 48, and 51 all occur twice.

  2. Having difficulty with statistics huh, Rolly.

    Let me be of help...

    The mean of a set of values is the sum of the values divided by their number.

          mean = 45+48+52+41+43+47+48+40+55+56+ 51+49+51+45 = 671/ 14 = 47.93

    The median is described as the value of the middle item or the mean of the values of the two middle items, when the data are arranged in an increasing or decreasing order of magnitude.

    median = arrange them in a descending or ascending order = n+1/ 2= 48+48 +1/2 = 96 +1 / 2 = 97/2 = 48.5

    The mode is defined simply as the value which occurs with the highest frequency (like tallying), and has 2 advantages:

            1. needs no calculation

            2. can be determined for quantitative as well as qualitative data

    mode = 45, 48, 51 (data may not be homogenous)

    hope this makes it more clearer or just...

  3. Mean:  The average:  add all the numbers up and divide the answer by the number of numbers you added together (14)

    median:  arrange all the numbers in order, and choose the one in the middle. (this will work because there are two middle numbers, but they  are both the same)

    mode:  The one number that shows up most often. This series has no mode, because there is more than one number appearing twice, and nothing appears more than twice.

  4. Median: Relating to or constituting the middle value of an ordered set of values (or the average of the middle two in a set with an even number of values)
