it seems so mall but so expensive. I haven't had a chance to physically check it out, and I don't really trust the infomercials. Do you own it? Is it really worth it? Is it loud? Can you use it as a good home sound system? Meaning can you throw a party at the house and use it as your music system? I checked out the bose website and its going for $700.. I can get a nice big stereo system with nice speakers for that price.. please offer your experience and recommandation..

  1. "Do you own it?"

No, but I know an lot of people who do. Those infomercials are pretty effective, because those Bose table top stereos are in an awful lot of homes.

    "Is it really worth it?"

It's Bose, of course it's not worth it. That's why they can advertise like they're Pepsi or McDonalds. They sell poorly designed mediocre equipment with cheap parts & charge outrageous prices. When you buy Bose you're paying a premium price for the brand name.

    "Is it loud?"

That depends on who you ask. If it's on your night stand in the Shady Acres Rest Home, you probably think it's loud. If you own a car with a subwoofer that takes up most of your trunk & have in you're living room, you'll probably think it's ridiculously quiet.

"Can you use it as a good home sound system? Meaning can you throw a party at the house and use it as your music system?"

Ha Ha Ha! Not even close. A $300 mini-stereo from Wal-Mart will blow it's doors off in volume & sound quality.

If your primary goal is the best home stereo for $700, go to someplace like Best Buy or Sears & buy a stereo with a powered subwoofer.

If your primary goal is throwing parties, go to someplace like Guitar Center or Sam Ash & buy a PA system, plus a cheap mixer that has XLR outputs.

If you want a good PA & can spend a little more money, get a B-52 MATRIX-1000 V2. (See link below.) It's $850 but inside a house it's extremely loud & it has a LOT bass. The kind of loud pounding bass you normally only hear dance clubs & cars. You'll also have to add another $40 or $50 for a mixer with XLR outputs since pro audio PA systems don't use standard RCA jacks like home stereos. Another $20 or $30 for two XLR microphone cables & $50 or $60 for two Speakon to Speakon speaker cables. Plus if you want to get the highest quality sound you'll want to spend another $50 or $60 on two speaker stands, so the two satellite speakers are above everybody's heads.

That'll set you back about $950 to $1,050, but you'll have the best sounding house parties in the neighborhood.

If you don't need a really loud stereo with a lot of bass, buy a home stereo or a surround sound system.

  2. My wife is pretty happy with it.

Don't expect to shake walls with it; but really the sound is so pristine and good surround effect without being surround.

I'd say BOSE is excellent and they really stand behind their products.
