Question:

Does anybody read the answers? I've seen many questions by Republicans asking why Dems are attacking?

a young girl, involving a teen mother in their politics, etc. I've seen many, many answers repeatedly explaining that Dems don't want to involve the daughter, but that since the Mom is a VP candidate *because* of her stance on reproductive rights, Sarah Palin's positions and their effectiveness are very much a legitimate topic. Reproductive rights, Abstinence Only, s*x ed in schools - these are social conservative issues, and being a social conservative is what got her on the ticket - so how can that not be a topic of debate? Young Ms Palin's situation unavoidably puts a spotlight on those issues, and the effectiveness of Gov Palin's preferred policies.

Why do Republicans here never acknowledge the distinction, but keep repeating the complaint that has been answered?

And will those answering just repeat the pattern, or try to change the subject?

(Oh, yes, there have been some direct attacks on Bristol, but I don't count the obviously moronic fringe questions. Or the trolls.)

  1. Thank you for phrasing it well, indeed.

We are not attacking Bristol.  I firmly believe that all fellow Democrats see this as a great challenge to her, and we truly wish her the best (especially since her mother has allowed her to be thrust into this unwelcome spotlight)..

Bristol is not running for elected office...but her mother is.  Her mother is hypocritical.  Anyone in a position to influence legislation (as she undoubtedly wishes to) needs to have said hypocricy examined closely.

If she wants to legislate for all...it must be for ALL, not just for MOST.

  2. It absolutely kills me that you do not realize that you are being played by a marketing campaign.. The more you talk about Bristol or Sarah Palin, the more you push her brand.  It was planned that way, I might add...

If you keep pushing her... You will ultimately help in getting her elected...

  3. Palin's selection is enough alone to indicate the level of thought prior to action we'd see from a President McCain (oh god, I'm gonna puke).

The GOP has been downright nasty and it's time they got some of their own medicine. Palin has dangerous social views and I don't feel sorry for her at all. Her poor daughter though will live her life in h**l now.

Obama has been civil throughout the campaign while McCain keeps airing one lie after another.

I'm not worrying though, I have to believe that the majority of American people can see through McCain's pathetic games.

  4. Teen pregnancy is an epidemic.  Was it an epidemic when there was no s*x ed?  Was it an epidemic when the media didn't sell kids s*x all day long?

Most people make stupid choices deliberately, fully educated on the consequences.  Education teaches them the how and what, and the media sells them the triggers to act despite the consequences they are FULLY aware of.

  5. I would like to see everyone leave the Palin family alone, even if they think any piece of it is fair game for whatever reason.  It just isn't.  Sarah Palin isn't running for Mother of the Year.

Question McCain's judgment like crazy for picking a 2-year governor of a state with a poplulation that would barely crack the top-20 in U.S. cities.  Question McCain's judgment like crazy for picking someone who is under investigation and has been caught lying (oops, I mean mis-speaking, sorry) repeatedly during the investigation.  Question McCain's judgement like crazy for portraying someone under investigation and likely to lose as a "reformer".  But leave the families totally out of it.

  6. ONCE AGAIN: nobody's attacking the girl..it's THE MOTHER who allowed this all to come out..she knew about it beforehand, but for political gain decided to risk it!

the mother's running for vp on a "STRONG FAMILY VALUES" platform, for christ's sake.

  7. Sorry, but children and family TRUMP all other issues, why don´t you listen to the Messiah, he has given you your talking points.

  8. Some direct attacks?  I've seen thousands of them ALL DAY LONG.

Liberals have ranted their sick insults against her on and on.  I'm sick of the hate.

  9. What does her daughter being pregnant have to do with Reproductive rights?

Abstinence Only, only works when the individual takes that approach. Statistically speaking there will always be people who fail to adhere to what may or may not be a good idea. Just because it's her daughter doesn't mean her idea's about abstinence only are bad, it means her teenage daughter didn't listen to her mother.. Who would a thunk it?

s*x ed in schools is a liberal idea. If your going to attack Gov. Palin on effectiveness of her ideology then why not attack s*x ed in schools. The schools obviously failed then too right.

Personally I wouldn't say either. I would say that regardless of which stance is taken that you will have a certain amount of people who do not listen to or support the stance. So there is a spotlight on both policies based on your logic.

People make choices regardless of policies that are enacted. The girl is not having an abortion, and is standing by her decision to have unprotected s*x with the possibility of consequences.

A teenage daughter didn't listen to her mother. There is nothing outside of that fact you can spin to your advantage.

  10. great points you make. My only explanation is the right is made up primarily of hypocrites, plain and simple. I shudder to think what this country will become should mcbush/palin prevail in november.

  11. Seems you've made a very good point. I'd rather see people talking about her lack of experience or the turncoat leiberman's comment on lack of experience on Obama's part while endorsing Palin.

She was mayor of a town the size of some of our high schools.
