there were also flowers , birds animals ? Just wondering I can't find anything with the fish and game dept or the smokey the bear website?

The following sites may help you: edible plants ( may be the Smokey the Bear poster you were thinking of) and edible bugs. As far as I know most birds and wild animals are edible, if not always tasty.
