I remember the Baron Knights having their brief spell of fame at the end of the 70s. I was about 12 and I loved them... They'd do loads of cover versions of hit songs, changing the words around, so "You Make Me Feel Like Dancing" would be "My Tailor Took My Pants In".

We laaaaaaughed!

Hmm.... It'd never work nowadays.

Otherwise, it's novelty records like Jilted John (John Shuttleworth these days) which still lures the 40-somethings onto dancefloors... Two Pints Of Lager And A Packet Of Crisps Please" by Splodgeness Abounds... And anything by Half Man Half Biscuit (i.e. "She's Got Dickie Davis Eyes").
