  1. If they found a way to travel through time AND space, it would eliminate the problem of ending up in a completely different spot, probably in the middle of outer space.

As for time travellers wanting to tell people, there could be laws against it in the future. They might only send some people back in time, like historians, and they could be kept under oath to not let anyone know about the future discovery. Or you might only be able to time travel to the future, not the past.  Or if you want to be a big conspiracy nut, time travellers HAVE told people; it's just being hidden by the government :P

I think that, since time is just another dimension, it can be travelled through.  We just have to figure out how to do it.  I was taught in astronomy that once you go past the event horizon in a black hole, you'd be able to see back in time...so if you can see back in time, you certainly should be able, theoretically, to travel through it.

  2. I doubt there is such a thing as time travel. As if people from the future had invented it they would have come back before us and told the world of the discovery. It is very very unlikely for thm not to tell anyone at all.

You are very right when you say its confusing! lol!

It is said that if you travel round the earth in such speed that you could go back in time. But only for 1/6 of a second. I doubt it really though!

Hope this helps you understand it more!

  3. Say you take Einstein’s theory into account the faster one moves towards the speed the slower you move through normal time you leave may be gone for 4 hours but when you stop 80 years have passed in normal space-time, if your one to believe in quantum rifts or worm holes a worm hole is a theoretical bridge in the space time continuum basically put two dots on a piece of paper then fold the paper for the two dots to touch the put a panicle through the dots that’s what a worm hole does take out the distance between the two points, but it also covers such vast distance it’s a loop hole in the theory of relativity because of the distance it traverses  if one were to find a worm hole do to the back of the distance it covers it could there for bride the space time continuum and jettison you back in time

  4. Here's something interesting. I don't think anyone could claim to "understand" it yet but we are beginning to understand that it "could" exist.

Please keep in mind that Michio Kaku is actually a respected physicist. That doesn't make him right but it's not like he's just some nut job;) with a weird theory.

  5. Time travel to the future is easy enough.  You're doing it now.  You can also speed up the process.  By traveling near the speed of light, time slows for you, vaulting you into the future.

Travel to the past is much more difficult.  The current claim is that there are General Relativity solutions that seem to allow it.  You need to build a machine - which requires manipulating mass on the scale of at least the Sun.  Hard enough.  It may require materials that don't actually exist.  And if it can be built, it may be so unstable that it can only be used once.  Finally, you can only go back in time to the point when the machine was made.  So, you could build it, and instantly someone from the future pops out of it.  I'm sure that would be disconcerting.

Our perspective has 3 dimensions of space and one of time.  It has been suggested that if you fall down a black hole, space and time sort of reverse each other.  You get one dimension of space (towards the center) and three dimensions of time (no idea how that works).  But perhaps the Universe has more than 3 spacial dimensions.  Perhaps time is more like a spacial dimension and can be traveled on.

  6. It is not possible for one reason... The universe is expanding and the world is turning...

If you had a Time Machine... And you were standing in your living room... and you set it to send you back 100 years... You would not end up in the same spot you were standing 100 years ago...

The earth is revolving around the sun... The earth is spining on it's axis...

The solar system revolves around the black hole in the center of our galaxy...

The black hole spins around something else...

That is ever expanding as the universe spreads out...

You would end up somewhere in the middle of space... Far far away from the planet earth...

THAT is why time travel is impossible...

  7. To see how time travel might work, please read Isaac Asimov's novel The End of Eternity. He doesn't discuss the mechanics (how could he?), but the whole novel is about how it affects society and the human race.

  8. It wont happen because yesterday is gone and tommorow hasn't happened yet.  A nice fantasy because I wish i can be 23 with my mind at 44

  9. there is such a thing as time travel. maybe not as extreme as your example. but imagine this. you are in NYC on a flight to L.A. you leave NYC at 9 am, since there is a 4hour time difference by the time you reach the west coast its still 9 am. in a way you have traveled in time. the condition is called jet lag. but lets say you reverse the trip you just made. you leave LA at 9am. by the time you reach NYC it will be about 1pm. you just lost 4hours of time thus giving you the effect of time travel.

  10. At travels near or at the speed of light, Time will slow down, in essence causing a sort of time travel. An example (and non-accurate) would be if I were traveling around the earth at the speed of light for 1 year and then stopped, 1 second would have passed on Earth but I would have aged a year.
