does anyone know of any acting opportunities in roanoke VA? and does anyone have an idea i could use for a 5 minute skit to perform at the "no shame theartre" in roanoke, the 3 rules are, nothhing illegal, has to be original and has to be no longer then mintues. plz help me <3

Some valid points in both 1 and 2 answers.

  First of all, 5 minutes can seem an eternity, and would take a huge amount of material to work with, edit, be spontaneous about, or memorize.

   I&#039;d pass on the audience interaction. To me, that may work with stand up, but isn&#039;t strictly original material, and stand up is not strictly a skit.

   With no offense to you or others, I wonder why so many come here saying they &quot;Want to&quot; but have no idea of the &quot;WHAT&quot;, to do?

   Skit,,, This sounds like a Monologue situation, and without knowing at all the context of &quot;no shame&quot; I&#039;m thinking two different things. Either this is designed to be like an open mic night for amateurs, who need not fear failing, or it means a situation akin to DEF Comedy Jam???

   I&#039;d also want to find out what they define as illegal. Certainly ORIGINAL is clear enough.

   Backing up however, it may largely depend on what the program is all about, in a general sense, what acts/things are usually included, what type of audience usually attends,etc.

I&#039;m not sure on the first, seeing as I don&#039;t live anywhere near you but the second I can help with. A great idea is a nice and simple improvisation act. Interact with your audience and ask them for a setting, an object and something that will be happening. Then mix them all together and it is often a great scene.

If improvisation isn&#039;t your thing then just stand-up, if you pick a topic now, start writing as much material as you can and sort it out so that you bring each new joke in casually and the punchline isn&#039;t going to be too obvious.
