Question:

Does anyone NOT kill bugs?

I don't. I have no idea where this has come from because all my family do. I think probably 'cause my father taught me the beauty of the world and all things in it I realised everything is valuable and everything has a purpose and everything is beautiful, despite it being seen as 'ugly' or 'scary', etc. I don't feel the need to kill them. I'm not afraid of spiders or bees or anything. I actually really love them. I love watching all creatures.. my fave.

If you kill them... what's the point?

I see the point in killing mosquitoes or other deadly creatures when you feel you're in danger... but otherwise... why?

  1. I do not kill alot of bugs but I kill the ones that spread disease and germs. Like Misquitoes and Flies.

  2. I don't kill bugs! I know EXACTLY what you're talking about! Nobody should kill something just to kill something! Like eating meat... you don't NEED it to survive, so why kill the animals!?!

  3. Who doesn't kill bugs.

  4. Sorry to disappoint you, but I do kill bugs.  Mostly because I live in a mostly humid state, & they bite.  The only 1 I won't kill is the one we in Arkansas refer to as the "skeeter eater."  I don't know the scientific name or if it actually kills skeeters.  But, my Grandma said not to kill them.   So, I don't.  Grandma was NEVER wrong!  Good Luck & Blessings

  5. I agree, they are beneficial to the environment. Each species relies on others, they create their own checks and balances without us needing to have any involvement with them.

You are right too, children are taught to be scared of spiders and insects. There may be good reasons for this in some countries where there are poisonous spiders for example, but we live in England so it is nonsense to be afraid of them.

We have a massive spider in our bathroom who the children call Millie. She climbs down the wall to see what you are doing when you turn the taps on. Otherwise she just sits in the corner, happily catching any flies that come in through the open window.

Why kill them? I really don't know. Surely if they are poisonous the best thing to do is just to avoid them, not try to kill them? Who wants to play with a poisonous spider?

  6. I agree!  Insects are pretty cool.  I'm a big fan of dragonflies and damselflies, butterflies and the very underappreciated moths, beetles and more!  I plant in my yard to attract wildlife, insects included, because they attract other species in turn.

I think people kill them mostly out of ignorance and fear.

Share your love and fascination with others, it will be contagious, I'm sure!

  7. I'm an organic gardener and don't kill bugs, ever . Relocate them perhaps, but never kill them :)

  8. i dont kill them

  9. Sorry,but i kill bugs.

  10. I do not kill bugs if it is at all possible to avoid it. I will catch a spider, wasp, bee, etc and put them outside. Unless I am being attacked in some way, i see no reason to harm them. If a skeeter bites me i slap him, i will kill a tick, if i see a roach however he is dead meat. I see no redeeming quality in a roach. Bees pollinate, spiders keep other bug populations down as do wasps. But fleas, ticks, skeeters, and cockroaches serve no useful purpose to any other creature on this earth other than themselves. But I personally love spiders. They are so cool. Especially Jumping spiders. I know im strange, but thats relative too isnt it. Just like snakes. Everybody is so hot to kill a snake. Run them down in the road not even knowing what kind it is. If it werent for snakes we would be overrun with rodents etc. Whether it be a rattler or black snake, they all eat rodents. Give em a break folks. They are not evil or spawn of the devil. Puleeeze. If you dont like em avoid em!! Lets all step boldly into the 21st century. Think up.

  11. I dont kill them.

I make my mom take them outsdie because i dont want to touch them =D

Because i wouldnt like it if some giant crushed my life.

Even is bugs have short lives, they still  live, think, feel, and so things like we do.

    Yeah.

  12. i only kill ants that bug and spiders and other scary bugs i kill them cause i freakn am scard of them there all small and evil haha i swear

  13. No, I do not kill any bugs, spiders, etc.

I have taught, not only my own kids, but all the kids who play around my boys and nieces and nephews not to either.  My nephews, who have always killed slugs and stuff, I asked them to please not do it around my kids.  Not only did the easily agree, but they stopped doing it completely!!

I saw a neighbor kid throwing a spider out off their house (still alive) after their mom wanted them to kill it!

Why kill them?  Most are harmless and most also actually help the ecosystem.  Sure, I don't want them in my living room but the garden is okay.  With all the west nile, I have killed two whole mosquitoes but that's it!

    Live and let live!

  14. very good for you!

the only time I kill bugs is by accidently stepping on them (and I do try to watch where I'm going) or when I come across a Black widow around my house.

There is a religion called Jainism, in India I think, that revere every living creature.  The most devout try to travel as little as possible so as not to tread on anything, and when they do walk, they go very slow sweeping the path in front of them.

    Its a very interesting religion.

Maybe in a previous life, you were a Jainist monk....

  15. I'm the same as you I avoid killiing bugs except moquitoes ... I am allergic to mosquitoes, even the sound makes me itch ... and stinging insects like wasps etc, but only if threatened.  And usually I'm on the loosing end of that encounter anyway.

  16. I can't say that I've not extinguished a bugs' live without a moment of sorrow. As a father and husband ,I've been called to many moments of fear involving bugs as the main ,perceived threat. More often than not I've been able to teach a positive respect for the subject of attention-and relocate that subject to a more natural environment with little discomfort. There are times though , that quick and decisive action must take place. These times require a quick prayer and a quick removal of any remains to perpetuate a level of security and peace. We all are faced with something we must do whether we like it or not. What is important is that we maintain our moral center with divine splendor.

  17. first of all, thanks a lot for not killing them. i could only say that you're very compassionate and good person by reading your post.

i don't kill bugs either, i usually catch them in the cup and just take them outside. some of them are free to stay inside, some of them have to go but none of them deserve to die because of laziness or because of not giving a $#@$.

  18. I don't kill them either.

I found this interesting..  I took a world religion class and the teacher told us about some kind of Budhism where ppl wear veils all the time, not to kill bacteria.  They also carry a broom everywhere and sweep when they walk, so they don't kill insects on the floor..

I wouldn't go that far.. but I feel ya on the 'non' killing of bugs.. when you don't have to.
