Does anyone actually believe that Georgia attacked Osetia without first clearing it with NATO

No army of 30,000 troops and two dozen aircraft would attack a territory occupied by a nation with over a million troops, thousands of aircraft, satellites and nukes unless a more powerful nation was pulling the strings. Not if it expected to exist at the end of the week. If you have a better explanation, give it.

  1. Nope I dont think so.  Russias thirsty.

  2. Nobody believes it. Not even the Russian leadership.

Russia launched an unprovoked attack against a sovereign and democratic nation. No modern nation engages in such an attack.

  3. oh hey u start understandin the obvious things

    finally :)

  4. How could Georgia attack its own soil?S.O. is still part of Georgia so how could they have attacked it? if anything they were jsut protecting it......second I do think that a back door deal is probly made that NATO is going to intervein witch they should now that you brought it up I mean why else would Georgia have not surrendered or made a truce on the first day but I want NATO to help Georgia so i sure hope we have a deal with them

  5. I belive US knew about Georgia attack before it started.

    1) There are a lot of US military advisers in Georgia. US armed and trained georgian forces.

    2) The Georgia is not independent country. It is dependent on all kinds of US aid.

    3) Some of the attackers that entered the S.Ossetia capital were "African-American"..

    4) One of the saboteur caught in S.Ossetia were "African-American".

Though US did not want to get openly involved in genocide of ossetians, some of US instructors just took the part "unofficially".

  6. Good point, Georgia is persuing NATO membership.

  7. Yes, I do.  If you knew the situation then you would know the Gerogian president always wanted to retake SO and that NATO kept keeping him from doing so.  And South Ossieta was not officially part of Russia, just protected by it.

  8. I think they did this on their own, and in fact,  NATO repeatedly warned them not to seek a military solution (i.e. attack Russia.) I think Georgia thought they could catch Russia by surprise and wipe out Ossetia quickly, and then the outside world would force a cease fire before Russia could counter attack. From NATO's perspective, Georgia starting the war was a huge blunder, because now we can't save them. Now at a minimum, Georgia has lost any hope of ever conquering S. Ossetia or Abkhazia.
