Will they still be on the High Street in 10 year's time with their current offering or do they need a radical overhaul?

  1. Couldn't tell you the last time I saw a Woolworth's

  2. I still pop in Woolies if I'm looking for little gifts or for some hardware stuff.  They have recently started up the rewards points thing with Nectar so maybe it's an attempt to attract more customers back in.

  3. I live in Lincoln and our Woolworths closed over 2 years ago now. The nearest one is in Newark half an hour away. I have to say I miss it! Where else can you buy kids toys, garden stuff, sweets, stationary all in one place. Maybe the store needs a new look. they do have Woolworth's General Stores in London which appear to be more fashionable.

  4. I do.

In woolworths I buy arts and crafts stuff (for kids), kids clothes, sometimes I get home stuff from woolworths,  birthday cards and I definately buy chocolate there.  They have some chocolate that other shops don't have :-)

  5. i do when they have a sale on they are good for kids clothes last month they sold all baby clothes for a pound

  6. yeah, its an old classic!  they sell random things that you can't buy anywhere else!

  7. occasionally when i cant get what i want from other places...its a last resort thing!

  8. yeah only when i need a birthday card or something like that

  9. Wow, my thought exactly!

The problem with Woolworths is that it has no particular 'personality', does not specialise in any particular niche, and the products on offer have nothing in common with each other. It has become a jumble shop, and, frankly, the independent jumble shops surrounding the Woolworths shops are for more interesting, and definitely cheaper!

The WORST thing is the quality of the products. I don't think they will get away with things breaking or not working any much longer.

LOL, the other day I was stupid to walk into Woolwoorths and there was a paper shredder for a kind of good price. (Not good enough, though. I don't really know WHY I fell for it.) It was the last one and the box was a bit bashed up, so I asked for a discount, which they refused. Now, I was not shopping alone, so was in a bit of a huff and being pressurised to move, so I paid and left, only to get home and find the freaking thing was BROKEN inside. SILLY SILLY me.

No really, every little thing I have bought from Woolworths was either broken or had a part missing or broke too soon or simply just doesn't work...

I think the fact that we are having this conversation is the answer to your question: They have no chance of surviving any much longer unless they address their quality issues, and work on RANGES of products that make up a whole story to create a personality for the shops.

    hope this helps

  10. I love Woolies it's cool and my son always drags me in there

  11. I do, I buy dvds, toys, kids clothes and gardening stuff.

  12. there's not much in woolworths that appeal to me, only games and dvds but they are dangerously overpriced on those so unless there's a good deal on easter eggs i have no reason to go there.

    Bye bye Woolies.
