  1. The older movies aren't scary

    which is why they're better

but i like some of the newer ones too

    like resident evil

  2. .Watch Nosferatu's shadow creeping up the stairs,or the steps sequence from Battleship Potemkin.Black and white is it.Anything by Eisenstein, even when he suddenly went colour.

  3. I remember reading two or three reviews of "The Entity" but I missed seeing it in a theater and it doesn't seem to turn up on television or in video rental shops, so I've never seen it. On the other hand, I have seen "The Changling" and I remember it fondly. It had great acting, including the last film performance of Melvyn Douglas, and an very well written script. Naturally, the scene which impressed me the most is when George C. Scott is in semi-darkness in an upper room of the mansion he believes is haunted and he hears something coming down the stairs from the attic. A colorful ball, like one that would belong to a very young child, bounces into view and the viewer realizes it was the ball that made the noise. That scene got several shrieks out of the audience I saw the movie with, and any movie that can scare people to the point where some of them will scream and use nothing but a rubber ball to do it is impressive.

I don't automatically agree that all older horror/suspense are superior to more recent horror and suspense movies but some older films managed to scare the audience without using gore or CGI effects, sometimes by using only common objects and sometimes by not showing anything at all; I miss such exercises in imagination.

Check out the original version of "The Haunting (of Hill House)," from the mid-sixties, sometime. I think you will like it.

  4. yes i must agree the older movies found a way to scare me more then the moves of today, even though today's movies has scarier characters and a scarier jump then the older movies but that's because of our advanced movie technology, i believe in this because the older movies took the bets ideas and really worked more on scarring people then the newer movies that tries to make you jump all of the time

  5. Yes they are

  6. well I think they were better and scarier but they donr look as real as now a days due to the special effects.

  7. Today it's all about shock value, it used to be about plot and actual horror.

  8. Yes. They have ALL gone downhill since the original Halloween.

  9. i agree. they are cheesier and more entertaining. and they dont make me pee in my pants or make me sleep with my parents.

  10. I don't know why but I like the whole 1970s scary movie vibe..

  11. Yeah, the older movies are more scary because it seems so real, with minimal special effects (or the basics)

  12. To answer your slightly chatty question.

No. There's always at least a small percentage of people on the planet that will disagree with you.

  13. wel i havent seen either but i do agree... it seems like now most of them rely more on the suspencs and musice to scare you and what not... back in the day it was good ole fassion BOOO!!!! lmao
