Does anyone agree with me when I say Wicked is overated?

i really like the musical i do but i don't think its as amazing as everybody thinks it is and i know there are better ones and people are totally obsessed with it.

Kind of, yes. I love it, and think it's amazing, but I'll admit there are stronger shows out there musically (Phantom, Les Mis, Miss Saigon etc), in terms of songs and writing - whereas Wicked is more of a spectacle in terms of staging, effects, costumes, lighting etc. I'm not saying the music is rubbish, because it really isn't (I adore the music). And some people are slightly obsessed with it. As I said, I love it, but that doesn't blind me to the fact that there are other shows out there, and I don't think that because I love Wicked, nothing else can ever impress me.

I love Wicked, but I know it's not the best thing out there. It definitely has it's flaws, and as of now it certainly doesn't deserve  being the top selling shows on Broadway, it is overrated in the audience's mouth. However, it got terrible reviews from the critics.

So, overall, I agree with your statement.

In some ways I agree with you, in other ways I do not.

There are certainly other musicals that are better than Wicked, whether it be in the score, character development, spoken lines, etc.

I like the musical too--to the point that I could be leaning towards obsessed--and there are lessons in the story that make me like it so much.

Wicked is so not overrated!!!! I love it but I'm not obsessed with it!!!!!!!!!!

I do think it is a bit overrated. I mean, it's good and all, but not the best out there.
