Does anyone believe in the Mayan calendar?

It basically says that the world is going to end in 2012. It has been extremely accurate so far, every eclipse every new and full moon even strange planetary activities. It is only 33 seconds off!!!

Yeah, were all gonners. We're all going to die and after that a new era will emerge. This is what the mayans mean when they said a great "change" will occur. Ever heard of Atlantis? or the ancient egyptians and mayans? there civilization was wiped out but a new era emerged from them- US. Now what they went through WE are going to experience. It's like earth is cleansing itself (there warning us because they know history repeats itself) and after we're all gone a new age will happen and then thousands and thousands of years after this new era it will happen again. The end? Yes. But, from this a new age will emerge. There's nothing that we can do to stop this change an ending of generation like us. Our government is too screwed up anyways, in ancient civilization they had the same problem. Over population hunger famine wars that it ended their existence. So get ready people, for were in for a ride.

it does not say the world will end it says that the age will end. what will happen is any ones guess. but yes I believe  that the calendar is accurate, more accurate than the current one used by the western world

Has it ever crossed your mind that they thought they had already planned far enough ahead, or that it's only the end of an age? And that modern science is much more advanced?

It does not say that the world will end in 2012.  What it does say is that there will be a substantial change in things then.  This calendar had significance for the Maya people.  Does everything about it apply to today?  Who can say?  The Maya were known for their astronomical calculations, but that only means that they were very good at this not that the world will come to an end at such and such a time.
