  1. There are lots of websites where you can get a free insurance quote. http://www.usinsuranceadvisor.com/Auto-I... It only takes a few minutes to do.

  2. It's not a scam. If one of your loved ones had to be life flighted to a hospital because some idiot ran a red light, wouldn't you like them to have to pay that bill? Or would you rather pay the hundreds of thousands of dollars out of pocket?

  3. You might think it's a scam, until you finally get into a major accident and have to sell off your house and get your wages garnished for the rest of your life to pay the $20 million settlement to the family of the guy you killed.  Then you'll be thankful you had it.

And there's a popular urban legend that says you can get out of it by declaring bankruptcy.  Not true.

  4. If you think car insurance is expensive - try going without it.

Ever been hit by another driver?  You'll be glad to have insurance then.  There's too many people that either can't or won't get insurance.  If they hit you, your insurance is the only thing that keeps you from having to pay for it yourself.

Insurance rates are driven in part by what you drive, how good a driver you are, and how many claims you've had.  If you drive an expensive car, you're going to pay more.  If you don't like it - get a cheaper car.

If you are a lousy driver, and have had a bunch of tickets, you're gonna pay more.  Guess what the fix is for this one?

If you've filed a lot of claims against your insurance, they're going to increase your rates, or drop you completely.  The solution is to not file claims - either drive more carefully, or pay for the little ones yourself.

This should all be basic Insurance 101 that everyone knows.  But a lot of people plead ignorance, or think the game is stacked against them.  The only ones that it's really stacked against are kids.  Sixteen and seventeen year olds are just too new to driving to really be safe at it.  Teenaged males are accidents waiting to happen.  I know - I was one.  But at that age, most kids don't pay for their own insurance any way.

  5. Yea its a real scam. Especially when you pay a measly amount every month for coverage and the insurance company ends up shelling out thousands of dollars for damages you cause or sustain. Really, how is that a scam?

I love people like you, it makes my job more fun!

  6. Well, I am 45 and never been in an accident.  I could've gotten a few new cars with the money I have spent on insurance.  I agree that it is expensive. I guess I can understand if you have full coverage on a car that you still have a loan from the bank on...they want to protect their interest and I would hate to owe on a wrecked car.  I hate spending money on car insurance.  Maybe they should demand insurance on drivers who have proven that they aren't safe drivers and leave the rest of us safe drivers alone.  Liability insurance is a scam for those who aren't foolish drivers.  Wasted money.  I did go for over a year without insurance and my fine was less than what I would've paid on isurance.  I wouldn't recommend that though.  Times have changed and they pull your registration and make all sorts of problems.  If a car is paid off and you have so many years as a safe driver, insurance should be optional.

If some uninsured jerk hits you and you have medical coverage, your medical would have to cover your injuries wouldn't they?

Sweet cheeks...what are the odds of that happening and isn't that the reason people have medical coverage...in case you get hurt?

  7. Nope.  I think auto insurance should be mandatory in every state.  It's people without insurance that cause the most problems for those of us that do have it.

  8. Just wait til you have an accident and then see how much auto insurance is NOT a scam when you can't afford to pay to repair your car, your legal fee's, medical bills, and all the other stuff that goes with it. All because you don't have auto insurance...

  9. YES- I hate it!!! You pay and pay and pay- and when something happens you pay some more...yet if nothing happens- you lose all the money that you have given them...and for what???- a little paper card to keep in your wallet??? I hate it- they charge outrageuos rates- and never give any of it back!!! Ever keep track of how much money you give them??? Where does it all go??

  10. No I think it should be enforced but I think it should be regulated. I don't believe that it should cost more for the insurance than the vehicle .

  11. It only seems like a scam until you really need it, or the person that rear-ends you doesn't have it.

  12. No.

Just wait until you've been hit by another driver through no fault of your own, somebody with your attitude who wouldn't have insurance if it weren't required.

  13. Lets look at some numbers:

The minimum requirements for my state are 25/50/15

So that means the insurance company is agreeing to pay up to $50,000 in bodily injury you cause to others plus $15,000 you caused in damage to their car. That's $65,000 in coverage that the insurance company is willing to shell out if you get into an accident. Now the average premium for this coverage in my area is somewhere in the ballpark of $210 every six months. If you were have an accident and hit your coverage limits, it would take 155 years for the insurance company to break even on your loss! Let's even assume its' not a bad accident, and you only did $10,000 in damage to someone's car with no injuries. It would still take 24 yrs for the insurance company to break even from your accident based on your premium. Still think it's a scam?

  14. Maybe if you have only liability coverage. If you have full coverage you are set.
