  1. i had a great microbiology teacher that lead the class into believing  that diesel fuel leeds to more pollution than does reagular gas feuled vehicles. but i believe any vehicle will.

  2. only a very small part.

china is the biggest problem at the minute.

  3. No.

Ever since the industrial revolution we have been pumping CO2 into the atmosphere like there is no tomorrow.

You cannot blame a relatively new vehicle for 200 years of abuse!

  4. There's a forum just started up in the last few days at

    http://www.ilovemy4x4.com

There's nothing on there yet as far as posts are concerned, though it looks like they will be covering most areas of discussion. There's a category on Politics and Government.

I can see a few arguments insuing on there in the future :)

  5. If all the 4x4s, sportscars etc in Britain were destroyed it wouldn't make  a pennyworth of difference(a gnat's pee in the ocean). It's just that the spoilsport, PC, greens are making them public enemy number 1. It also gives the money-grabbing Gordon Brown an excuse to fleece motorists further.

  6. NO NO NO

  7. Climate change is natural.  Remember when it was on the news that 'global warming' was happening on Mars too? Are they going to tell us that there are little Martians driving about in 4x4s on other planets too? How can that possibly be the cause if its happening on other planets too?

  8. they're not the most carbon-efficient of vehicles - but i doubt overall they have any noticeable effect, when compared to the carbon emissions of country business output from america, china etc

  9. The only difference between a 4x4 and a 2x4 is one extra transfer case.  It has nothing to do with the motor. You can put the same size motor in both vehicles.  So why would either affect the "climate".   It doesn't.

  10. The Climate has been minimally influenced by everything the Human race has done.

Even Nuclear weapons testing hasn't changed it a great deal.

Most immediate changes have been directly linked to volcanic eruptions around the world.

All the 'little nasties' put into the atmosphere causes change worldwide.

The Climatologist are correct in saying that things are changing on our planet but it isn't caused by us.

Imagine a Sine Wave going up and down constantly, this represents the years passing and the seasons of Winter at its highest and Summer at its lowest (or vice-versa). If you 'pull-back' a little way you may be able to see that this Sine Wave is actually a part of a much larger Sine-Wave covering a much longer time.

The climatologists and other weather experts have been observing the changes year to year and comparing them back to when records began.

Even if records began 10 thousand years ago, this is a minute fraction of the 4.5 billion years that the Earth has existed.

If you look at archaeological evidence (my field), then you will see that over the Millenia, the Earth has gone from Ice Age to Ice Age with periods of immense growth in ideal conditions.

To gauge the weather with even a modicum of accuracy, you must study the details day to day as well as from 1 Ice Age to another. The Ice Ages may represent a 'Galactic' Year of seasons but these are not being taken into account.

The climate changes are natural and will continue until the Earth is either a tropical paradise with deserts at the Equator, or a frigid ball gripped in an Ice Age.

Take a look at the history of the planet and you will see that is how the Earth has been since formation.

Its good to be concerned about environmental issues and to help in caring for our Mother Earth, BUT, don't start to panic just yet. If science progresses to the point that it can predict  the weather ACCURATELY, with 100 percent success, THEN start to panic because the Weather Service along with the Climatologists and any other specialists will be able to tell you exactly what the future holds.

Of course we may be hit by a major meteor, the size of the Moon tomorrow, and that would be the end of the Human Race.

    Optimism not Pessimism!

  11. it has nothing to do with the 4x4 feature, it has to do with gas guzzling and SUV's have 4x4  and are gas guzzlers usually, but it also pertains to trucks, cadillacs, etc large automobiles that get poor gas mileage

  12. No.  They use more fuel and possibly let off more emissions but they are not responsible for climate change.  But the government and "do gooders" do like to have something to blame!

  13. No more than anything else that puts out emissions, including factories. And that is not limited to the US. Worldwide, there is a lot of nasty emissions that are not being addressed. Hope this helps!!!

  14. Partially, but nowhere near entirely. Industry in the United States and China releases immense amounts of greenhouse gas, and flatulence from cattle also contributes a large amount.

  15. I doubt it. However, our lifestyle that has spawned the SUV, is most definitely responsible. We must curb our use of fossil fuel. If we do not we and our offspring for tens of generations to come will suffer.

  16. A small part.  It's not the idea of 4X4, which can be useful.

It's that one person driving to the store in a big 4X4, on paved roads, to get some milk, is a pretty inefficient (and silly) way to accomplish the task.

To fix climate change we don't need to stop doing things.  But we do need to do them more efficiently.

By the way climate change is vastly more predictable than the weather, and we do know the cause.  Data, verified and peer reviewed:

  17. not at all

  18. No        No

    ....x....

    No       No

  19. no

  20. Nope, the people who buy one car after another each year are more responsible than the people who buy a landrover and run it for 10 years.
