Does anyone believe that Oil companies "eliminate" people?

Question

I've heard so many rumors and seen evidence that oil companies track down and threaten or even kill people who invent gas free cars. Is this true?

The reason I ask is that I myself have ideas for a new type of car, but i'm reluctant cause i don't want them blowing it up or something.

There's been several people in the past that made some kind of electric engine or hydrogen car, but they disappear and the invention never reaches the market.

If this IS true, then why do people stand for it??

No. Oil has so many other uses than just fuel for cars.Oil companies will adapt with the market.

Define "evidence".  You say you've seen evidence, but I suspect what you've really seen is rumor and urban legends.  It's not that I'd put it past some stock-holder or oil executive from doing a crime to maintain their wealth and power, but I suspect acts of violence are rare.  Buying off someone's rights to a new car patent would probably be their normal method of stifling competition.

90% of what you read on the web should be considered with great skepticism.  So unless you've seen the kind of evidence that would be allowed into a courtroom, I'd question whatever you've heard.

I am with Ken on this one, in that they will buy up patent rights that could affect their market. I do not believe for one moment that they would go out of their way to kill anyone just because they had invented something that works but it is not petrol nor diesel. They could make the inventors life a little horrid to force them to sell their idea to them but the strong arm thing, NO. Anyway who really likes the oil men who may look like our President and lie through their back teeth to mislead this great country of ours?

nope total BS first why since they don't exist.  water is not a fuel never was never will be, hydrogen is a joke where do get the hydrogen and before you say hydrolysis, it takes practically twice the amount of energy to split h2o than you get from a fuel cell. burning it is like 15% efficient not to mention it already exists same as e-85 and e-100 cars its the same motor just modified. the only viable alternative is electric Chevron did buy the patent for a large > 750kva lithium ion battery to bad a lot of small cells wired series / parallel is more efficient voltage wise. Who are these people everyone hears about that invented a carburetor that gets a big Cadillac 150 miles to the gallon but no one knows this persons name its always a friends, brothers, neighbors cousin. And by the way its physically impossible here on planet earth we obey the laws of thermal dynamics.

efficiency and performance are on opposite ends if you want range then you measure acceleration with an egg timer and weight becomes a concern. Small aluminum and carbon fiber with a minimum of luxury means greater mileage

Not sure about that... but all these new concept cars are pretty pricey, so I doubt it'll catch on quickly. Which is why some of these ideas die.

Sure why not people kill people over a dollar why not billions ?

People don't stand for it the true story just isn't told to us . Our great government has been hiding things from us for years .

In my life time Ive seen a flying machine that Moller Ind. built that resembled the Jetsons car go as fast as a jet float on water and small enough to park in your garage then the government took it over . Never seen that again. Then Ive seen a motor that produced 150 horse power as small as a lawnmower motor that you could hold in one hand run on any kind of fuel .The government took that over and that was 20 years ago . Never seen that again either .

Thing is the government dictates to us what we can have and what we cant have .

We need a big change in government . We need an honest government or maybe we just need to fire all of them and start over and  let us citizens decide what we get and don't get. Just to many secrets held from us

and of course all those killed by leaks, accidents and general pollution like particulates, smog and climate change.

but they are not likely to worry about individual car makers like Tesla http://www,teslamotors.com. The cost and opportunity of mass producing a new vehicle is prohibitive unless you are already part of their Global corps executive club. and what pressure they might exert there is unknown, but is likely to be more subtle & powerful than death threats, see who killed the electric car http://www.whokilledtheelectriccar.com

No what they have done in the past is make sure it doesn't get into market. They will pay lost of money to make sure their oil profits don't decline. Bush's buddies were trying to get let off on 9/11 when the 7th building was blown up. This building was full of white collar crimes and sure enough when they found this data Exxon was on there.

There have been many inventions for cleaner cheaper energy but of course our President is an Oil man and would not like to see those profits decline...I hate the Bush family.

It isn't true.  I know these conspiracy theories are fun but the problem is, they are seldom true.  Working as a geologist, I can tell you that people in the oil industry are like everyone else.  They don't want to hurt the enviroment or kill people.  They just want to sell a product and make some money, and go fishing, and raise a family or just be like everyone else.  It is not as fun as the conspiracies but it is the truth.

It is just stupid logic. There are hundreds of thousands of very good engineers and Scientists in countries all over the world that have been working on alternative fuels, car designs, Solar, Wind, etc. for many many years. The only thing that has held back all the options is economics, physics, and the public acceptance criteria. It has nothing to do with the oil companies.

There are millions of wealthy business men all over the world in many countries that would gladly invest in anything that proves to be cost effective because they could get very rich very quick. The oil companies do not control the world.
