Does anyone believe that the world of Atlantis really existed?

Atlantis was a world that was supposedly here a long time ago. The people that lived there were very spiritual and had their own special abilities. Life there was very mellow and easy going. It really revolved around everyone's psychic abilities. They found some stones (like a street pavement) in the ocean near Bimini, Bahamas that people believe belonged to their island. Any thoughts?

  1. Atlantis did exist, and it wasn't destroyed by a natural disaster. It was destroyed because the technology available to the Atlanteans was used incorrectly, creating a seismic disturbance in the ocean floor beneath the island. The resulting earthquake/tsunami basically ripped the island apart so that it sank into the Atlantic ocean, for which it is named.

As for being an 'advanced' race of beings, it was advanced in the sense that the United States is an 'advanced' country. Many were intelligent, but intelligence was above average for the population, so its not unusual to say that situation was not unlike that of a marathon runner, who is nothing special among other marathon runners (only average) but more athletic around people who aren't.

Some were good, some were 'evil', many were oblivious, most perished, few survived (think of Jor El sending his son away from Krypton in Superman.) I tend to believe many of the flood myths of ancient times occurred because of what happened at Atlantis, but because the reporters were commenting far enough away from the epicenter, no correlation was made between the two was made. But that's just my opinion.

  2. Yes, I do. I think it was located on the island of San Torini and they were destroyed by a natural disaster, such as a volcano. They may have been advanced for their time and that is why the legends of sprung up, but I do not think there was anything supernatural about it.

The "Bimini Road" has been proven to be a natural rock formation, nothing else.

  3. it existed, or rather is exists. ive seen it.

  4. It's possible the city existed, but no one there had psychic powers.

  5. It has been speculated it might have been lost in the last pole shift.Anything is possible.

  6. I believe it exists! Forget that theme park in the bahamas or where ever. The real Atlantis is still being discovered.

  7. i think it was real

  8. Yes, I believe Atlantis exists.  Ancient cultures across the globe had shared a similar myth about an ancient civilization vanishing into the ocean after a flood.  Unless it is a crazy coincidence that Asia, Greece, and South America all share this myth then the best explanation is that the Atlantians fled to different parts of the globe and shared their culture.  This could also explain why man suddenly gave up hunting, gathering and living in caves and started constructing pyramids and monuments across the globe.

I bet we will find Atlantis frozen deep under Antarctica, hopefully preserved.  Who knows, though... maybe Atlantis still exists under the ocean.  About 20 years ago an official Japanese government naval vessel witnessed a UFO shoot out of the water, hover and circle around their ship, and then re-enter the water.  Maybe Atlantians are still around after all. =)

  9. Almost all myths and stories like the one of Atlantis have a kernel of truth to them. I think it's certainly possible that a highly advanced society once existed and was destroyed by natural disaster.

  10. i guess it would be cool if it was

  11. Not enough evidence to determine if it really existed. A lot of Greek stories talk about it, but it's hard to tell if these stories are fictional, partly fictional or based in truth.

  12. Yes I do believe it, I believe many of the ancient civilizations descended from survivors of Atlantis and is the reason why they were all so advanced in Astronomy and built temples and buildings that emphasized the stars. Atlantis was a more advanced civilization than our own, and they were destroyed by nature, just like we will be in 2012 and our descendants will spread their knowledge and be the beginnings of a new empire, and eventually there will come a time when man can avoid being destroyed by  natural re-occuring cycles of destructions. Advancement in technologies and intelligence is whats needed for survival of the human species, thats what  really matters. It was a very big civilization, so nobody really knows where it was, but it was more than likely so big it cant be pinpointed to an island or small location, but rather proabably spans the equivalent on one of todays continents.
