im a 14 year old girl who has a massive passion for golf. i play off 12 but the thing is i hope to have a future in it but i have a few questions ..

firstly what sort of carears could i go into. i know you cna paly but if i dont get into the high enough talent then i will need a plan.

and secondly does anyone actually belive in watching the women because i want to change the way people see the sport not just as a old bank managers game but a young teenage girl game that is kool and trendy therei s fashion in it and so on.

and finally.

does anyone know of how we could gain sponsors or raise money as a county team to get us to a higher level.

also i would like ot say get out there nad watch your county girls team play. You dont relasie how much talent is in your local area until you see it yourself.

Thankyou..

  1. I believe in female golfers, I watch them all the time at amatuer level. I think that there is more opportunity in ladies golf today than in mens because of the more level playing field. I think that there are great opportunities for girls wanting to get to the professional level and they are definitely any marketers dream.

  2. I so believe in Women's golf. I mean look how much it has improved and how many more people are watching and taking an interest into it. This isn't just in golf though we are the underdogs in most sports. This has to change, i think. Look at the stats between Tiger Woods and Lorena Ochoa, Tiger has won 60% of the events he has played in oved the last year and Lorena has won 54%, Lorena 21 top tens and Tiger 19. So the stats are similar look at the earnings though, Tiger $14,000,000 and Lorena's were $4,000,000 (not exact figures) Thats a massive difference, i know i know that the PGA makes more money than the LPGA, but should this be the case, who can prove that Tiger works harder and puts more effort in than Lorena?? And about the job situation i am thinking along the same lines, i am in college atm playing golf, over here in America, i am from UK, and i am going to give golf everything i can to do my best, there are loads of jobs in golf though or on the LPGA itself take a look at the websites below.

By the way keep up the good golf, i didn't start till i was 14 so keep it up, i am now 18 off 2.

  3. i am still mad that the first three rounds of womans major not on tv . perfer to watch womans golf over mens game . live in canada there are college courses here , two year course , gaurenteed , employment . allows teaching , managment , head pro , general manager , to me the way courses are being built the day of male domination , in golf course management is done . women are more suited mentally to be more proficent at management under pressure . males overeact . as pro shop atttendents , or assistant pros , better to deal with the public . in roads are being made in canada , i dont  know about united states , but british colombia canada has three campuses that do offer the program , it also includes . great employment interviews prior to graduating , after first year , students are provided room and board , plus a good wage at reasort courses throught western canada . well worth the education .if you e mail me can find college , name , since we have had tennats at our home who have graduated from this program . food and beverage has been intoduced to the program . this gives full control over every department of golf course . greens staff excluded

  4. I'm a 50 year old Georgia boy who LOVES the LPGA tour. I love to see a woman play golf, especially, if she is good! I've been a fan for years and wish they would cover the women more than the men. Also, the women are VERY underpaid. Maybe by the time you get to the tour this will be better. GOOD LUCK!!!

  5. oh yea for sure i do.  I am 21 and have been a golfer since i was around 10 and i am a huge fan of all golf mens and womens.  The only problem I have is that the women should play on the womens tour none of this michelle wee playing on the mens tour and missing every cut.  OK if a lady truly is good enough to compete with the men then sure i guess let her give it a try.

for a career you could be a teaching pro or maybe manage a golf course, or course architect or im sure there are lots of other golf careers out there.  You are still young so you have lots of time to look into all the options.

for sponsors i dont know maybe call around to companies and just ask.  another option which seems to be huge right now is start a facebook group of supporters and that way you could all share ideas and even show companies how many supporters you have.

Never give up and just keep swinging away and hopefully it works out for you and you make it on the LPGA tour someday

    good luck

  6. To begin with congratulations on your passion for golf and your desire to make a place for yourself in the golf industry.  The game has changed over the years.  While many still see golf as 'an old bank manager's game', that is no longer the case.  At my course there is a superb junior program and while most of these juniors are boys, there are also several teenage girls involved who are developing into nice golfers.

As far as sponsorship for a county team, you might talk with a local pro who can put you in contact with one of the major golf firms who promote the sport.  Taylor-Made, Ping, Calloway, to name but a few would likely be happy to provide a junior team with some form of support.  (You're all future customers right?)

As far as entering the golf industry, once you've finished high school try for a golf scholarship.  Most universities offer golf athletic scholarships for both male and female students.  Another option would be to enrol in the golf program at a community college.  It's generally a two year program that teaches not just the game, but also the business side of the industry.

My best wishes to you for success regardless of whatever route you choose to follow.

  7. I believe in Lorena Ochoa.
