  1. Tobacco industry.  The farmer hires workers in Kentucky to plant the crop and then to harvest the crop and hang it and then cure it and the rest of the year they draw unemployment.

  2. The auto industry. When auto sales go down in economic cycles, unemployment goes up. Then when auto sales recover, unemployment in the industry goes down.

  3. Seasonal workers.  Resort help who work long enough to qualify for unemployment.

  4. Cyclical unemployment refers to those who are unemployed due to the trade cycle (the economy goes through a process of boom (high economic growth, so high demand and lots of jobs) and bust sometimes called a recession/depression (slow economic growth, less demand so less employment).  An example could be that in Australia at the moment the mining industry is driving economic growth due to high demand from China - therefore there are many jobs available in the mining industry and jobs that support mining in these towns.  If this demand falls, the number of miners required will fall and they could be considered unemployed due to cyclical unemployment.

    I hope this helps.

  5. Agricultural workers like fruit pickers are often only employed during the picking season for about two to four months depending on the industry, and then may be unemployed for the rest of the year.  These workers are often migratory as well and travel into an area for a short time and then leave again once the work is finished.

Casual workers such as electoral vote counters, census takers, are other examples.
