Does anyone commute from New Paltz, NY to NYC? If so, how long is the commute and how is it done?

It's a pretty long commute..  About 1.5 hours of driving from New Paltz down to Manhattan, more if there is congestion at the various bottlenecks (bridge crossings and Manhattan streets).

The usual commute would be to take the NYS Thruway all the way down, across the Tappan Zee and down through the Bronx.  After that it depends on where in NYC you want to go.

Alternatively, one can also take the NYS Thruway down to Rockland, get on the Palisades Parkway, go south and cross the George Washington Bridge into Manhattan.
