Does anyone do 'split duties' at work?

split duties means starting work , finish , then start work... all fekkin' day. By the time you get home at the end of the evening , your completely knackered. I wouldn't wish that upon anybody... What like is a 9 to 5 job , please tell me.

Split duties or split shifts  usually means that you job needs to cover a longer day than 9 - 5.  This is usually for banks or companies which trade around the world.

For example, it might mean that one week you would work 7:00 - 3:00 and another week 11:00 - 19:00.  There wouldn't be any night work so it is not shift work.
