Ok my son just turned 1year, and he already says many words and even says short sentences very well and in the right context. He can even tell you the person's name in a photograph when you ask him who they are. Lately he's been pointing to objects asking, "What's that?" or "what's this?". As soon as we answer and tell him what it is he moves on to something else and asks what it is. He seems to be learning very quickly and he even calls for our cat by name every time we go outside. He started saying many words at just 5 months so I wanted to know if anyone else has been so lucky or excited about this.

  1. You should be.  That is really advanced for that age.

  2. It is exciting. My nephew was the very same way. He is five now and is one of the smartest kids I have ever been around. Honestly using words like "actually" at one. Its amazing when they learn that quickly. Feed it. Teach him. Work with him don't let his intelligence be idle. One last thing, don't forget his age though. With my nephew people had a tendency to treat him like he was a year or two older, even though he would carry on a conversation, and know what he was talking about, they would expect him to understand other stuff or you know like get upset with him for getting rowdy or acting like a two year old when they felt he should act like a four year old because he spoke like one....congrats on a smarty though. thats awesome

*p.s. to pageant girl....for having such a high IQ you don't spell well and your grammer is not that great either....

  3. My little boy was very young when he started talking.  His first word was ma ma at 2 months old.  My mother thought I was crazy until i left him with her and he cried it all day.  He also was saying small sentences at a very young age.  He asked me if a man standing outside a store was real or a figment.  So enjoy it.

  4. I have a 14 month old, she started saying "my bot-bot" (my bottle) at around 12 months, thats pretty much the only sentence she says otherwise its just one words like "mum" or

    "ball" or something.

  5. yes i was that way but my first wrod was not a word it was a sentance......."May i go to the ice cream parlor?" i am now 14 and i have the 3rd highest i.q in my county there is great things to come for this baby........ you need to get him into preschool or teach him yoruself as asoon as you feel fit..... alway challenge him and get his i.q tested abiut the age of ten. when he grows a lil more be VERY strict on him on his grades ........ i can grad. in two years and im in 8th grade ive  got a promise form duke university that if i keep my grades up they will pay for me to go there...... i recentaly took my A.C.T and w.o finishing i made a 20 and i was in 7th grade...... if you play your cards right you could have a genoius i was reading at 18 months.

  6. When my daughter was 11 months old she could pick out every letter of the alphabet.  Children are much more advanced then we were back then.

  7. It sounds like he is advanced for his age. I have a 15 month old and at 12 months he only said a few words. Ball, mama, dada, and baba( bottle). He now says about 20 words but understands well over 100. Just today I told him to go get his book off the bed. He ran down the hall climbed onto the bed and brought back the book. I have a wonderful word book and we read it ever night. He can point out over 100 things in the book. The only two word sentances he says now is. Thank you, holy cow, and uh oh.

Make sure you work with him and teach him new things everyday. If he likes books get a word book it help them learn a lot of words. Here is a link to the word book I have.

  8. Wow your kids goin to graduate at age 10 if he keep this up u should be proud try to teach him mmore stuff

  9. Yes, I could hold conversations before I was a year old, could read well at three, sang and acted on stage at five. You do, indeed, have a special child with advanced abilities. I would consider gifted schools, early introduction to other languages and early introduction to musical instruments.

  10. You have a really smart kid on your hands. Keep telling him information if he is curious. Now a days parents don't really tell their kids about stuff when they are curious and just say "oh you will learn about it when you are older" even if you don't think your kid will understand, go ahead and tell them they deserve to know about how stuff works in the world. Sounds like you are doing a great job! Keep it up =]

  11. My son will be 12m on Aug.1. He def. is not talking that much. He just says DaDa and MaMa and makes sounds. He was also a month early so don't know if that means anything, but your son is obviously very advanced! I would be so proud of him!
