Does anyone else's dog do this?

When my dog goes to sleep she starts twitching and shaking and she moves her legs like she's running and also sometimes she growls. And sometimes she goes into this deep breathing. It wakes me up at night.

I told a friend about this and she said my dog is probably just dreaming. It's sort of funny to watch but I was just wondering does anyone else's dog do this.

  1. My dog doesnt do this but my cousins dog does and I have to agree it is pretty funny.  And ya its pretty normal in most dogs, there just dreaming.  Just like humans some dogs "sleep talk".

  2. Yes!!! Both my dogs do this. It is sooooo cute!!!

  3. Yeah my BT does it.

  4. same, ever wodnered what the dream about? lol

  5. All the time.

  6. my miniature dachshund does that sometimes, but not a whole lot though.

  7. yeah all the dogs i have ever had have done this.  Some people say that dogs cant dream but i think they do.  My pup "wuffs" in his sleep and all his paws twitch like he's running.  Dont worry about it he's probably chasing a cat or something! :-)

  8. my dog does that none stop

  9. yea all dogs dream

  10. Yeah..dogs are like us too..they have even emotions..so why not dreams? right? my dog even loves digging up..as if she really could dig her house ..heheh

  11. yes and my dog barks in his sleep too. he makes the muffled bark but you can see his eyes are closed and his legs are moving like he's running. I wonder if he caught that rabbit in his dreams because he didn't catch it outside when he was awake  :)

  12. yea they are dreaming

  13. he is dreaming and yes my dogs do this my great dane and my chihuahua

  14. yea my dog legs twitches and when he sleeps next to me he kicks me... :D

  15. Your friend is right.  Dogs have a much higher cognitive level of thinking and memory than we ever thought possible.  If my dog is whimpering, I'll wake her up.   But otherwise, let them chase their dreamy friend.

  16. Just sounds like she is dreaming ;-)

Mine snores so loud it wakes me up sometimes.

  17. Of course...All dogs dream. It gets annoying sometime when your trying to sleep though.

  18. Yes.  Every dog, and cat that I have ever owned have done this while they are sleeping...sometimes to the point where they bark and meow.  It's very entertaining and very normal.  Sometimes, my dog makes movements like he is biting and jerking back...I'm assuming he is dreaming about chasing one of our cats.  When he does this, I make kitty sounds and that REALLY gets him moving in his sleep...hahahahaha!!!  If you have a video camera, you should tape your dog and put it on youtube so everyone can laugh with you!!

  19. My family used to have a doxy that did that and my mother said that he was chasing squirrels (which he hated with a passion), but your friend is right your dog is just dreaming.
