Question:

Does anyone else experience a different feeling of buzzed or drunk depending on the type of alcohol you drink?

With my experience, when I drink wine (red or white) as well as beer I get a mild form of euphoria and I become a Chatty-Kathy where everyone is my new best friend. When I drink vodka or tequila all I want to do is go to the club to meet new people and dance until the morning hours. When I drink dark liquor (Jim Beam, Johnny Walker, Jack Daniels, ect.) I get a bit grumpy and I want to leave my social setting and watch TV alone in my house and not interact with anyone……….. Even if you don't experience the exact same mood changes as me with these types of alcohol, does anyone else experience things like this when they drink different types of alcohol? And if this is a common theme among people, does anyone have an explanation of why?

  1. Everybody gets a different buzz from different types of alcohol because body chemistry differs from person to person. I get a different buzz from drinking Vodka than i get from drinking Bourbon. SO that's all normal..just keep drinking till you have discovered every shingle different kind of buzz out there....that's my mission...make it yours!

  2. I know a lot about the physical & chemical nature of ethyl alcohol. I also know a lot about its physiological metabolism in biological systems. But I experience the same thing and can not explin it. It really does not make sense since they all contain the same type of alcohol, ethyl alcohol, also called ethanol.

I understand the effects of rate of consumption. I have been drinking for some years and have had a chance to compare the effects of each alcohol. I drink one beer or one shot of 80 proof "booze" in an hours time and get a different feeling. Distilled spirits give me a euphoric buzz as compared to beer or wine.

I get a particular nice buzz with alcohol (distilled) as apposed to my preferred beverage beer.

  3. i'm the same way (NO MORE TEQUILA!).

i don't know why it happens but it is the same with different foods. they trigger different moods. when  you're in a bad mood you don't go reaching for salad do you?

and different headache medicines work differently for people too. for some advil works, for some its alieve, others tylenol. make sense?

  4. Wine makes me all giddy and silly!  Beer and Liquor I want to hug & kiss everyone and dance!!  Alcohol is GREAT!!!  I love that I can drink and not be a drama queen like alot of other girls!

  5. Yes, this happens to me all the time.  I, however, like to mix them all together and see what happens.  I usually have trouble recalling...

  6. Yea....different types of mixture with the alcohol can do that to ya! Different flavors can react a lot differently...
