To me Nadal is the best player in the world though ofcourse with all respect to Roger he is still the official #1. Think about what Nadal has achieved throughout his whole career at just the age of 22... Yes his game on hardcourt can improve and will :) ! Just after winning Wimbledon then claiming his first hardcourt title of the year he`s well on a roll ! I cant wait for Nadal to be the new #1 he definitely deserves it very very much. Im prediciting Nadal to win the US Open, theres nothing he cant do :P ! Vamos Rafa

  1. No its not unfair. Thats how it goes. But Rafa is on the roll he won 7 titles winning on 3 different surfaces consecutively. I am sure he can take the number 1 spot from federer by winning the cincy masters. Since there is 1 week off after the cincy masters, he will have ample time to rest for the Olympics where in winning the gold medal earns him additional 400 ranking points. He can further lead away maybe by a 1000 ranking points by winning the US open.

  2. he just won a hardcourt tournment rogers cup toronto masters series he looks like he can win us open .federer is shaky

  3. I'm a Nadal fan too, but at this point still waiting to see....I would put money on Rafa to make the finals of the US Open, but to win is another question in itself.  I'm not saying he wont, I just need a little more from what has been shown so far.  Remember there are a lot of seasoned hardcourt players out there....i.e: Federer, Roddick, Blake...etc.. but again its not like he cant win, its just consistency and stability at this point I'm lookin for.  Cincy and the Olympics will give me a better idea of the outcome of the US Open, BTW I have courtside seats for whatever happens!

  4. Yes He has been winning tournaments for ages but the ranking in Tennis is like if you get enough points u go up a ranking. You dont have to win a tournament to become a better ranking, At the moment Rafa is 300 points away from the number one spot.

    Hope This Helps!!!!

  5. No. We're not stupah. Its totally fair that he's still #2. Roger has played perfect tennis all last year. The beginning of this year sucked so bad for him, and screwed him up big time. You don't go from winning slams to not winning over night.

I hope Nadal gets mono SO much.  Maybe when he goes to China, it will be his turn to catch it.

  6. Rankings at year's end are what matter, points are calculated year round, so Federer is still benefiting from his points won in Cincinnati last year and the U.S. Open.

While Nadal did poorly last year and didn't rack up the points.

Relax, barring an unbelievable collapse Nadal will be #1 before the year's done.

  7. I have been a Nadal fan since day one and have recruited a ton of other Nadal fans.  My friends are all in love with him and when he reaches #1 we're going to throw a party!  He is an extremely talented player and deserves to be number one.  Federer has been playing longer though so it is fair.  Soon enough Nadal will take his place though and Federer will fall in the rankings and we'll be wondering why we made such a fuss over Roger.

  8. In this situation..fairness is not a form of discussion.....all rankings are dependent on wins and points......you have to win the majors to get the major points....don't lose hope..he is within reaching the spot and could do so next week.....

  9. No. Federer has 12 grand slams. hes well deserved that number 1 for as long as he has. Remember he still made a GS semi and 2 GS finals this year (one which he almost won). He reached finals in Monte Carlo and Hamburg, and sure his start of the year was disasterous. but you can't say Rafa exactly whipped up on the hard courts (Novak did-lets be honest). Rafa deserves the number 1 when he gets it (this week most likely) not any sooner not any later, thats just the way the rankings work. Would you have said Novak deserved to be number 2 or 1 after his amazing first half of the year? If we based rankings on form only then it would change all the time - say if the ATP race was in fact the ATP rankings, Djok and Nadal would have both bin number 1 this year and Roger not at all. Now that would be ridiculous.

Like I said, you have about a 1 week to wait till it is unofficial, and that seems pretty fair to me.

And yes, right now Rafa is the best tennis player in the world. Right now.

  10. I'm a Rafa fan myself and I believe he has a good chance of becoming number one. But as far as it being unfair from a fan's point of view and with the way Rafa has been playing you'd think he would've been number 1 a long time ago. But that's not the way the rankings work, you have to do well for the entire year in order to get to number 1 and unfortunately for the past few years Rafa would be exceptional during the clay and grass seasons but then basically collapse during the hard court seasons. Federer has kept his number 1 ranking because he has won more tournaments and ranked up more points and successfully defended them more than Rafa. Rafa is playing decent on the hard courts but not exceptional and it's hard to say if he'll win the US Open because there are many more seasoned hard court players like Federer,Djokovic, Roddick, Blake, and others who have pretty much mastered what it takes to do well on hard courts and to win the US Open Rafa has to likely get through these guys and a host of others. Rafa is improving but from the looks of his match today he is still struggling a bit on hard court but he's getting better. The number one ranking isn't something that is deserving just because you won 2 grandslams, it has to be earned with consistency throughout the entire year. But we'll see what happens, if Rafa gets to number one then YAY, if he doesn't I still love him. :)

  11. I think it has its purpose.  Constantly running after Federer gives Rafa the drive to be better.  It also brought out his humility.  And these are just two of the things that make him a well-liked player.  When he eventually becomes number one, no one can say that he doesnt deserve it.

  12. Yeah, I feel exactly the same.  I mean, he won the French Open at his first attempt and has won it ever since, along with many other tournaments but yet is still #2 :-/

Doesn't make sense if you ask me.  I was watching the Rogers Cup final on sky and the people said if Rafa wins Cincinatti and Roger doesn't make it past the quarter finals, Rafa will overtake Federer :).  (I think they said Cincinatti, could have been the US Open.  Was too distracted by Rafa :-P)  Either way, it shouldn't be too long now :)

Can't wait for him to be #1, he sooo deserves it :-)

    Vamos Rafa xx

p.s. did you get my e-mail about the Wimbledon ballots?

  13. Federer has been number 1 because he has been winning more tournaments than Nadal. The opposite has happened this year so it looks like Nadal will become No.1
