Does anyone else feel like Beach Volleyball is too "casual" to be considered an Olympic sport?

I totally RESPECT the indoor, hard court game.

But, IMO, it seems more like a "fun in the sun in bikinis" type thing, even though a tremendous amount of skill is needed to play this game well.

It just seems "too recreational", that's all.

No. Beach volleyball is a whole lot harder than regular court volleyball. Beach vb you're only dependent on your only partner, whereas in regular court you have five other teammates. The sandy surface makes it difficult to maneuver and it's outside.

Perhaps your right, but I still enjoy watching it. I think a lot of guys watch it because the women are dressed in bikinis.

Just because it's an Olympic event doesn't mean I have to watch it.  I respect the athleticism, but I'd much, MUCH rather watch the indoor team game.  Most boring event next to the sailing.

Well. I think ur right. Personally i wonder y they have the same sport just on different types of ground.

The level of competition is awesome. Just becuse it is fun and casual shoudn't take away from the sport. Fans and players love it and its growing in popularity.

Did you see the race walk, now that was "casual"

if you have ever tried to do that sport then you would know how hard it is to do. it is fun yet very grueling
