I sometimes feel like i'm not really here. Like i'm not real, as though i'm just observing my life... Nothing seems real, like i don't exsist. Does anyone else get this? If i'm doing something like going on the computer, i will suddenly think, this is real, i'm real... and i just dont feel like i actually exsist...

Its difficult to explain

Is there anything i can do to help this?

Is this a condition or disorder other people have?

  1. I wouldn't call it a disorder,I'm sure everyone thinks that way,I know I have. And it shouldn't bother you that much, but it'll get off your back eventually.Just try to think that something like that would be impossible,or whatever you can think of.

  2. I know how it is to feel so unreal at times. Like I'm not really here and its all just a messed up dream in someone elses head. But as time wears on, it gets to be all too real, I'm too real and I wish I really didn't exist. I don't think its a disorder, per se, and there are things to help that but I am not going to recommend them. The only thing that I can reccomend in good conscious is music.

  3. According to some great philosophers, we are "spiritual beings" experiencing a human existence.

Both science (specifically quantum physics) and spirituality agree we are all One energy.

According to quantum phusics, what we observe becomes our reality.

    So, let me ask you:

Why do you think there is something wrong with you?

Why do you think it is a condition or disorder?

    Why do you believe this?

What I am trying to get you to do here is to begin looking at your thoughts and instead of just accepting them (allowing your subconscious to operate on automatic) look for the origin of this belief.

In other words, is this something you believe because that is what you are programmed to believe by others, or is this truly your own belief?

You can go to my website and read (for free) how the subconscious mind functions, learn more about quantum physics and the Law of Attraction.

Hope this gets you on the path to self-discovery.

  4. Hi There.

I have the exact same thing, and im in the process of tretment for it.

I dont wanna scare you, cos i dont know how bad you have it.

I was referred to the mental health department last september, and ive recently been told its called 'depersonalisation disorder/derealisation disorder'. I have both.

The depersonalisation is where you feel disconnected from your self, and the derealisation is where you feel disconnected from the world around you.

It caused me major depression and eventually i became agoraphobic...i now have a support worker who helps me get out and about.

    Im also having psychology treatment.

I would say to you that if its affecting your day to day life, then its worth seeing a proffesional about it.

When i look back on my life, i can remember many episodes of it happening even as a child, but it only became a 'problem' last september (im 26).

There are a few good websites that ive come across that you might find helpful.

But im not a doctor, so dont do a self diagnosis on my info.

However, i must warn you that dpd/drd are not well known of even by a lot of medical proffesionals. I was lucky to get a psychologist that knows about it. Even my psychiatrist hadnt heard of it, despite claims that its the 3rd most common psychological condition.

I am a member of an excellent support website, called www.dpselfhelp.com

    Good luck to you x

ps, hope you're not overwhelmed by all the links below!!

  5. i felt like this for a second or two last year. i felt as helppless in a situation that i began to think that this isnt real, even though i knew it was

  6. I understand!

    This is called:

    not be grounded.

People who aren't grounded typically don't feel themselves they feel as if they aren't there. Nobody is real and they justify alot of things with that, I'm like that kind of still but, I've come to realize more of the world. It's recommended to carry something small and to rub it when you don't feel real, because if you aren't real you can't feel right? So that'll make you come down a little bit. Pets are recommended too, because their so lively, animals don't think about stuff like that, they just live to survive and appreciate everyday they do without question[sounds great eh?]

    :D
